    Joe Murphy

Quirke has now signed for Coalville Town. If he has an agent he needs to sack him, he's an under 21 international for Ireland for christ's sake.

    Andre Villas-Boas First Management Casualty

He's almost the opposite of Mourinho. Mourinho was counter-attacking and Villas-Boas plays a high line and wants to attack teams for 90 mins. He'll only work at Spurs if he can get some pacey centre-backs or adapt his system. I've got a feeling it won't work out but not because of personality...

    Robin Van Persie Leaving Arsenal

van Persie is nearly 30 and at the end of his contract. They've already got some decent replacements in the shape of Giroud and Podolski, this is probably Arsenal's best chance to get a good transfer fee for him. If they were truly geniuses at the emirates then they would have sold him before...

    James Wilson

I also think that the general football public aren't fully aware of our financial constraints. They just assume that the club doesn't spend money out of choice, I remember previews for last season where some seemed perplexed that we hadn't attempted to strengthen our squad.

"They offered me quite a good deal but there was something I felt wasn't quite right"

I personally don't think we tried to sign this guy. Even though the quotes sound like a club similar to our situation, you have to consider that he's a right-back and we've got so many at the club at the moment. If we really did try to sign him then you have to question the sanity of Thorn and...

    Another one lost

Given that there was no actual proof that we were in for him other than newspaper/online rumours it seems a bit much too use this as evidence of the board's paucity of ambition for the club. Particularly given that Collins only really has League 2 experience and that there's so much other...

    Kelvin Etuhu

We should sign a player set to join a League 2 club? Where's your ambition?

Que Sera, Sera, whatever will be, will be, we’re going to Coventry, Que Sera, Sera.

League 1 is a tough league, the top 8 teams (minus the 3 who will be promoted) are at least lower-to-mid-table Championship quality, the rest will either be up-and-coming clubs or desperarate battlers (particularly towards the end of the season). Given that the squad will undoubtedly be worse...

    Life in League One...

We need to be prepared for poor results against lower reputation clubs. We can't walk into this league with an air of superiority or it will be an extremely disappointing season, particularly at home games against the likes of Stevenage etc.

    AFC Cov or Coventry Phoenix

Well if it comes to it I'd prefer Phoenix as it's different from all the other phoenix clubs who've renamed themselves AFC, the prefix is getting a little repetitive to me by now.

    Player Watch

I've got to imagine that Brian Howard would have options to join a Championship, probably Millwall (although they have a number of good central midfielders at the moment). At the moment it's hard to speculate without guarantees about finances on who we could sign. If there were good indications...

So what went wrong at Coventry?

Does anyone know what sort of contingency plans there would be if we were kicked out of the Ricoh?

    New Kit?

In fairness it is a pretty nice kit, I'd be glad if they keep it.

Chance next week to blood a few kids?

Which ones? They're not going to pick up any experience from a tricky away game with nothing to play for. The same could be said for the older players but it's a more traumatic experience to be thrashed as a youngster than as a jaded professional.

    We will be back

We've got no idea whose going to be in the boardroom next season, if SISU stay then we will be fighting relegation. If someone comes then they will have to buy pretty much a whole new squad, even then there's no guarantees. Promotion should not be our expectation for next season, we should...

    Thorn offered job next season

At least there will be some continuity, with the inevitable player exodus it will be nice to have a familiar face.

    Bell & Baker -

Bell was doing pretty well at the end of last season when Thorn put him in the centre of midfield, he's had some good games this season but has been a shadow of the player he was when he got that 4 year contract. I have never seen Baker play well, my cousin saw him play for Stockport as he's a...

    Coventry vs Hull matchday thread

It does mean that Peterborough will come to the Ricoh next week with virtually nothing to play for.

Can we take advantage of Pompey and Rangers?

It's interesting as there have been a few reformed clubs who have gone to these lower leagues and torn the league apart. I think the thinking now is to get them below the Conference North/South but not too far as it ruins the opportunities for other clubs to achieve promotion. In my opinion I...
