Match Thread Coventry City - Blackburn Rovers Match Thread - Tuesday 1st Oct

The performance was immeasurably better than 90% of what we’ve seen so far this season. That’s what we’re capable of, and we’re still not running in 5th gear. I think BTA will be a pivotal player for us this season, if he stays fit and keeps up the performance level. His energy and drive are...

From the Barbers to the Forum

To be honest, I preferred Greggs and his childish windups than this banal stream of ‘ITK’ shite we’ve been treated to, in recent times. 🦉

    Sakamoto Injury

Bet that was painful when the adrenaline wore off. Poor Tatsu, his luck is terrible. Reminds me (oddly) of when I almost sliced my left index finger to the bone in a darkroom at Henley College in 2000. Some swine had nabbed the film can opener so dickhead here thought ‘ah, sod it, I’ll use...

    Motivation- Down to the players

Going from MR’s comments towards the end of his post-match interview on Saturday, the inference was that management these days isn’t about chewing players out, chastising them openly, because (quote) ‘you can’t do that nowadays’. Sounds to me like, also going by his subsequent comments, that...

96/97, the season of the Great Escape. I remember only bits of the match, but Darren Huckerby was on loan at that point and was such a breath of fresh air - aggressively charging at defenders, jinking past them, and when he would turn the afterburners on it was amazing.

    Ex Player Watch

Interesting fun fact: Ysrael Zuniga, who played for us briefly from 1999 until 2001, is a dentist in his native Peru these days. His overall career stats are impressive, incidentally (dentally 🤣), over 250 goals scored in 500-odd appearances at club level.

Sounds accurate though, judging by the performances.

Yes, 1-0. Haji scored a header off a rebound (either a save or someone hit the crossbar). The difference being, we had leadership then, albeit veterans like Fadz, Kelly and Godden who weren’t getting much playing time. Nevertheless, a scrappy 1-0 via a shot that takes 3 deflections and...

    Problems and Solutions

It’s clear now, after over a year or so, that they’re not. It took COH hitting a rich vein of form to kickstart our whole season. Hindsight is a great thing, but we haven’t replaced COH either.

Yes, he did. Not quite sure why I put that. Chalk it up to a lack of caffeine, this morning - the Gold Blend has run out.

    Problems and Solutions

I know we’ve all said it ad nauseum, but the failure to adequately replace Hamer is the biggest mistake the club has made. A pivotal, inspirational driving force in midfield HAS to be replaced, with someone close to that departed players level. I know they have tried, but come on…we’ve...

    Viveash gone

Worryingly, if MR goes, we will probably end up with either Boateng or Delaney as interim manager (at least).
