Head of Recruitment Chris Badlan and Chief Scout Stuart Benthom have left the Club.

My take on this is that in recent years scouting had become overly reliant on stats and computer reports. There’s a load of ex Cov pros out there who I guess would love to be still involved with the club. Get them scouting. Get them watching local non league and reporting back. All the ex...

Is there any need? Anyway, the point being that Ducros signed for Nuneaton from us in 1999. Ducros got 10 apps in the PL 97/98/99 ish. Our scouts missed a decent 19 year old on our doorstep. What point are you trying to prove here?

Not for one minute am I discrediting Robins, I’d hope he has the final say in these things at the very least. Definitely not suggesting Badlan deserves credit or blame for the success or otherwise of all major signings. Not trying to be contrarian, but I’m sure Mark is very familiar with all...

    Max Biamou the club legend

Max in his late 20’s was good for us in L2 and L1. He scored some important goals and from my view did a decent job. This is at a time when the likes of Walker (I think) saw us as beneath him and turned us down. So, who in L2 would have joined us and done a better job? He’s 32 now and...

As in failed a piss-test or is this a piss-take? He’s a big unit but doesn’t look like a ‘roid guy (you can usually tell straight away by the size of the traps, I see them in the gym but you can also tell which boxers and sprinters. Laugh if you like - it’s just the way it is. Holyfield had...

This is all circular. A couple of years ago I made reference to us following the “Brentford Model” - where we buy decent prospects in their early 20’s and develop. I got called out and referred people to a Dave Boddy podcast on the subject. Anyhoo Gyok, O’Hare, Sheaf, Hamer fit the model...

Who? Waghorn with his 1 open play goal in 38 games? Dabo had a better own-goal rate. Kevin Kyle had a better rate and was cheaper. Waghorn. Nice fella. Wherever Badlan ends up next he should suffer him.

Didn’t Reda have a set-to with Pressley which preceded the loss of the dressing room and subsequent downturn? (Anyone? Bueller? Anyone?) If so, not really a legend

I heard an interesting perspective on a podcast (UTC) the other day, can’t recall and it doesn’t matter who it was, anyway: The number of graduates from decent academies now means there is a huge number of technically well trained and coached and mentored players who end up having to play at a...

Max at 30 was a cheap squad back up who had done nothing but improve since he joined. The mindset at the time: Players who come to the pro game late, wear out late. Fadz for example. No one could predict that both Max and Waghorn would go downhill quicker than Eddie the Eagle but to me...

Blah blah blah. 13k per week. Big chunk of our playing budget that could have been spent on someone younger with sell on potential. It was poor judgement to sign him no matter how you look at it. It’s not a difficult concept.

Not arguing with your logic - it’s sound enough. I can however attest that at the time I stated repeatedly on here that Waghorn was a strange signing due to age and wage and didn’t fit our model. So I did say there was no point in signing Waghorn; and I was right. (Often wrong about many...

At the time of signing Waghorn has had a much better career than Gyok. Gyok of course was a “punt”. Same as Walker. Young, with potential. If anyone on here thinks Waghorn offered value for money or even potential then… Oh I give up. Pointless

Agree. Had been the key word. But we are comparing 13k per week v (guess) 3 k per week. Waghorn was a waste of money and has flopped. No ifs no buts. Flopped. Waste of money and not even a “punt”. Hillsner was a punt. Early 20’s ex Germany u20’s int - could have turned out a steal but...
