    Heat

"Non-standard construction" The post-war priority was to build as many homes as quickly as possible to house those who had been bombed-out. Many people loved their new pre-fabbed homes and were sorry to leave them.

    Heat

It's a waste of money in my experience. Bought a floor standing unit eleven years ago and haven't used it since. By the time I've connected up the exhaust hose to an outside wall the heatwave is over. It also needs a solid concrete floor to stand on or it will vibrate loudly when the compressor...

    Heat

It's clouded over which prevents the heat from escaping upwards at night. I took advantage of it to wash the duvet cover knowing that I wasn't going to need it tonight.

    Things that annoy you

How annoying is this? I always by the same style of reading glasses from the same supplier so you'd think when a pair break I could simply swap a part or parts from an older pair but no, theres always a tiny, almost imperceptible difference in the shape of the parts or the way they're attached...

Some advisors suggest it's best to stockpile cash at times like this even though it's rapidly losing its value due to inflation. The idea is it can be used to take advantage of any unexpected buying opportunites which present themselves. But everyone's situation is different and what may be...

"In 2017, it took the Dutch 225 days to form a cabinet. " Those periods when Holland had only a caretaker government were also some of the most successful!

A vintage TV restoration foum I subscribe to logs me out every 24 hours then complains about a 'lack of posts' from members. Not as bad though as the Coventry Transport forum which is damn near impossible to log into.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

It already did in CV1 many years ago. 59, so not even close to retirement age. I think Labour was still in office but wouldn't swear to it. Regardless, successive governments have raised the age for minimum income guarantee (ie: "Pension Credit") from 60 to 66 at the same time as average life...

    America

They're useless for so-called 'self defence' as well. All they give is a false sense of security which makes someone more likely to wander into a dangerous situation. Last I read 80% of cops who were killed on duty were killed with their own weapon, just one reason why British police prefer...

    Evil Fuckers

There's no way of knowing. He could be a totally reformed character in five year's time or made worse by his experiences between now and then. At some point in the future he could be living next door to a family with a small child and they would have no idea who he was unless something terrible...

He won't be kept in for life though. He'll be free in five years time, given a new identity and the media banned from revealing who he is.

Braun shaver, hairdryer, etc. 1st prize in the Daily Mirror "Pretty Woman" video competition. I still use the hairdryer 30 years later. Stopped doing competitions though after winning 600 tins of Diet Coke. The entry form said "Win a tin of Diet Coke every day for a year". It didn't mention...
