Spot on, this is awful at the moment, but there’s been worse, and I can’t envisage a time when I don’t care about the team I’ve followed since 1963.

I think it’s generally accepted (not by everyone) that our squad and best 11 are not good enough in terms of quality and steel. 2Lampard has signed none of these underperforming players, and although it is his job to improve players, it’s a bit rich to put all the blame at his door.

This exactly. He didn’t need the money, and could have sat in a warm studio pontificating. But he wanted to stay in the game at the sharp end, so took on a really difficult, almost impossible job, a long way from his home and family, to try and prove himself. He may well not have what it takes...
