    Fury v Ngannu

One of those things where a narrative overtakes the reality. The fairytale of a "legend" from a different sport fighting the heavyweight champion in his first fight. I watched US coverage and it was all about Ngannou even before the fight started. They were willing him across the line, saying...

    Israel - Palestinian Conflict

Hands largely tied by the structure of the security council with its vetoes. Same as they've been unable to do anything significant about the Ukraine situation. UN has no real power against larger nations - more a gigantic discussion forum.

    Fury v Ngannu

absolutely. Underprepared - looked more tired than Ngannou in the later rounds which no-one expected . Couldn't physically bully Ngannou like he does most opponents and his normal reach advantage wasn't there. Timing was way off from the start and as a result threw a lot less punches than he...

    Fury v Ngannu

He "won". Take away the narrative of "it's an MMA fighter's first boxing match" and it's 2 normal boxers Fury just won in a very scrappy performance.

    Fury v Ngannu

Fury taken a paycheck. No way he was right for this fight when the usyk one is only 2 months away. He's building towards that one. Looked like a half-assed Spar at times. No urgency particularly in rounds 9 & 10. Ngannou actually gets some boxing in and he could be a world champ. Didn't have the...

Globally not all Muslims pro-Palestinian. Still factionalism. Not sure it's a voter issue in UK

    Israel - Palestinian Conflict

Exactly. Recognition of the horrors of WW2 is what led to the Geneva convention - the latter protocols of which Israel has refused to sign. If Israel wants to go back as far as WW2 for references then they bring into relevance the comparisons being levelled between the Irgun and Hamas,Hezbollah...

    Israel - Palestinian Conflict

Could have influence over China just not prepared to pay the price.eg trade boycotts, stop foreign investment. Money talks. Western govts openly admit that China is involving itself at all levels of govt to gain information & influence, rampant industrial espionage etc but admit they are...

    Israel - Palestinian Conflict

Exactly so freeing the hostages on Hamas's terms isn't of interest to Netanyahu (other Israelis may feel differently). Might not even be possible without the support of his hardline coalition partners - which he is unlikely atm to get

    Israel - Palestinian Conflict

Interesting perspective. Does highlight Netanyahu's political "dilemma" where his govt is reliant on the support of several ultra-nationalist/right wing parties. This reliance does make it seem rational, constructive peace talks (other than from a position of Israeli dominance) are highly unlikely.

    Israel - Palestinian Conflict

Egyptians have had their own problems with Hamas and their links with the Muslim brotherhood. Spent many years fighting terrorism in the Sinai already. Also don't want the possibility of Palestianians launching attacks on Israel from Egyptian territory that might threaten the current peace they...

    Israel - Palestinian Conflict

Cynical option is they knew something was going to happen but not on the scale it did. Hugely unpopular Govt trying to divert attention from widespread domestic discontent. Mossad is one of the best intelligence agencies in the world and seems almost impossible they knew nothing.

    Israel - Palestinian Conflict

If you're referring to China then it's $$$$.The politics of economic convenience. Same as Govts & people don't really go to town on widespread human rights violations across the "oil states".

    USSR invades Ukraine.

Corruption is a bit harsh. Ukrainian military (and everyone else) was expecting a massively armed, competent invasion force so they calculated what & where they could defend with what they had at the time. Much of the focus was obviously on the large force that came down from Belarus towards...
