    Coffee Machines

Got a Kitchenaid coffee machine about 6 years ago after a visit to Oz. Mate out there advised that if buying a machine you needed to check that it was rated at 3 bars (whatever this means). The Kitchenaid was expensive but worth every penny. Superb coffee every time. Get my coffe online from a...

Been there quite a few times on a Saturday night for a meal and a few pints. Always found the food to be good and the staff friendly and helpful. Good selection of aleas as well.

    Cruising the Med

Did one a couple of years ago round the Med on P&O. Very well organised but the internet connection was shite!!! Went when the kids were at school so we didnt have the problem of hoardes of uncontrolled kids running round. My only other gripe was that you dont get enough time ashore to really...

Pictures of Cov in the past and Coventry Pubs

I remember the original Miners Arms getting pulled down and the one that is in the picture getting built. Could be wrong but i reckon it was around the same time as the M6 was being put through just up the road.

Pictures of Cov in the past and Coventry Pubs

I seem to remember a guy who i worked with who was called Botterill. I know he lived down Windmill Road and am pretty sure his dad used to be a butcher. By the time I knew him I think the shop had closed and they were living in it. He got his dad an ex company van as well if I remeber correctly...

Pictures of Cov in the past and Coventry Pubs

Love the pictures Houh, really brings back some memories. Remeber going swimming on a Saturday at the baths and either going to Fishy Moores or the cafe in Pool Meadow afterwards. Does anyone else remeber the underpasses that used to be all around Coventry. Am sure one of them used to come up...

Relocating to Coventry - advice welcome!

Earlsdon is a pretty good place to live, although there are far more students about thanks to the expansion of Cov Uni. Plenty of decent places to eat and drink and only a ten minute walk to Chapelfields if you want more traditional pubs. Memorial park is just around the corner as is the train...

    Introduction

Hello Al and welcome. I don't usually post and tend only to come on here to see who Grendal is winding up. Been to Melbs many times and have to say wandering around Fitzroy on a sunny afternoon sinking a few cold ones has got to be one of the most pleasurable experiences life can give a man...

    Netflix

House of Cards has got to be one of the best things I have ever watched on TV. Kevin Spacey steals just about every scene he is in. Could not stop watching it. Started watchin Sons of Anarchy but the plot lines got sillier and sillier as it went along to the point that it lost credability...

    Am I in the wrong

Have done shifts myself many years ago and it nearly killed me. The only thing that kept me sane was the ability to go out and sink a couple of pints when the occasional opportunity arose. Initially the wife didnt get it, thought I was being a miserable git, but explained that just a couple of...

    Shops that are gone

They used to have their own pubs as well. The Attleborough Arms in Nuneaton and the Market Tavern in Bedworth were both Davenports pubs.

    Shops that are gone

Even remeber that as he sung the song the words appeared on the screen with a little pointer to the words so you could sing along. "Beer at home means Davenports!!"

    Shops that are gone

Remeber it well. My Granny used to have a crate of Davenports every week. Still got one of the pld wooden crates in the shed. Reckon the old bloke who used to say "cheers" at the end of the advert was Mr Davenport himself............well according to my Granny it was!!
