    Championship thread 24/25!

I would imagine they would have to submit a new planning application for that which would need to be accepted. Probably more informed people than me on here that can shed light on this though.

I think it's more that the CEO got very excited about their prospects of returning to the PL that in August it was announced their stadium capacity was increased to 25k from about 17.5k. The whole project is earmarked to cost around £450m. Likely not all their money but a sizeable chunk will...

Again, thank you for repeating what I've already posted.

No. Ashley has turned his attention to stadiums I think. I believe he was looking at Headingly a year or so ago but the deal collapsed.

You do realise the club has absolutely zero leverage don't you. There's no option of playing elsewhere, the vast majority of clubs turned us down last time and Birmingham only took us in because we were willing to pay £1m worth of rent. The CBS is it so that's where we'll play. FG are more...

The rent is already far too high apparently. I definitely share DK's concern if he's been told or even caught wind that it's likely to increase upon the club extending its license or lease dependent on what's agreed. It's not sustainable if we remain in the Championship, that's an objective fact.

Well done for repeating exactly what I've just said. The rent scenario still remains a significant issue long-term though.

    Championship thread 24/25!

This isn't a SISU / ACL scenario, I know we've all said it before but I'd be astounded if that were to happen. FG will want to have a successful football club at the stadium. It makes no financial sense to drive us out. That being said they do obviously have their own agendas and if they're...

Perhaps more concerningly alternative stadiums were mooted. Obviously as a last resort, but from my perspective there's definitely an air of: 'jumped out of the pan into the fire' with FG.

Interesting you should raise that as I recently heard from a contact that DK is getting increasingly twitchy about that, namely regarding FG skyrocketing the rent upon the license's expiry.

There's no guarantee that they'll come back up either. Any decent players they have will be sold and the majority of existing PL money and parachute payments has probably already gone / is going towards their new stadium. L1 is also much more competitive now. There's a lot of clubs that are...

PL clubs relegated the first season after promotion only get 2 years of parachute payments.

Are we going to "shit" our way up!?

West Brom and Blackburn are in midtable form and have been for some time. That by definition is slipping up given their current standing. Blackburn have picked up slightly in recent games but it remains to be seen whether they can keep it up.

It's more that they're heavily reliant on him to play a certain way and pretty much everything goes through him. Makes it more difficult for them to find any kind of flow when he's not in the side. To be fair though they won against Swansea without him, although I'm not sure I'd use that game...

    Binks and Dasilva

I think in all fairness the issue is the ex-Chelsea youth experiment on the whole just didn't come off. Wakefield, Collins, JDS, Panzo, Palmer, Kane etc. It's all speculative obviously but you have to wonder whether the recruitment department had actually identified some decent targets in some...

    Binks and Dasilva

Same on the opposite side though, with exception to MVE the best RB / RWB we've had since Dabo was a loan and he was exceptionally average. It's not a LWB / LB problem in isolation. Decent wing backs / full backs are just hard to come by. I don't think Dasilva is the worst footballer ever...

    Binks and Dasilva

Is it that much of a blind spot? Maatsen was decent, then Bidwell has proven to be a good signing. The only real shocker has been Dasilva, which seemingly wasn't a scouting decision but rather a Viveash recommendation. We've had more troubles at RB / RWB I'd say. We've had Dabo who just broke...

Match Thread Sheffield Wednesday - Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 15th Feb

Middlesbrough, Blackburn and West Brom are all in mid-table form or lower though. Teams below us don't look particularly threatening either. I don't disagree that we need to be capitalising on teams like Wednesday which are up and down and have injury issues, but it's not season defining...

Match Thread Sheffield Wednesday - Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 15th Feb

Yeah obviously we can't be dropping too many points in this current block before playing Sunderland, Sheff U and Burnley. But equally it's not the be all and end all that we have to pick up maximum points against the next 5. Three wins and a draw would put us in a pretty strong position.

This is way off the mark. Football never really works that way either. Looking at the form of teams around us and the general quality which we've come up against I suspect the No. of points to get into the POs this year is going to be lower than in years previous. No one us really running away...
