Tweddle suing makers of "The Jump" for neck injury

Disclaimers rarely stand up in court these days Dave. It's down to the court to decide whether the claim passes the tests required to demonstrate negligence:- 1. Was the claimant owed a duty of care by the defendant? 2. Was that duty of care breached? 3. Did the breach of the duty of care result...

Tweddle suing makers of "The Jump" for neck injury

I see on the Beeb that former gymnast and now mum-to-be (yes, really!) Beth Tweddle is suing the makers of C4 programme "The Jump" for injuries sustained when she hit a barrier on landing back in 2016. They have failed to agree a settlement out of court, so she has issued proceedings against...

    Energy Suppliers.

The OVO figure of 3% was what was in place when I was with them a few years back. Amazing that it's gone up further! Now with Utility Warehouse for EVERYTHING: Gas, electric, landline, mobile and broadband. I think they can do a deal with Sky too, but I just use my old TalkTalk youview box for...

    Police cars in accidents

I think "traffic cops" are very highly trained, and very skillful drivers. But I would be interested to know how many of the collisions, 480 write-offs and deaths were caused by "panda cars" (ask your parents, kids!), either directly or by taking it upon themselves to chase a bandido. And the...

    I couldn't possibly comment ... :shamefullyembarrased:

    A Strange Custom ?

Having said all that, I was fortunate to be able to go on holiday to Indonesia a couple of years ago, and we saw a few things in Lombok (a mainly Muslim island) which we were enlightened by. The first was a woman on the beach with her young kids (I don't recall a male adult being around). She...

    A Strange Custom ?

I love to see other cultures behaving like you describe - that is what makes Britain a wonderful multi-cultural melting pot! What I CANNOT stand is women being oppressed by being made to walk behind the male, or wearing a full burka while he wears a t-shirt and jeans. It will be argued that they...

    Things that annoy you

There are a lot of in-grained cultural issues that they need to address (the fact that almost everyone has a smart phone and even shanty towns have satellite dishes attached, but they still consider it acceptable to chuck their rubbish out of the window/train, or on the street, etc), but Modi...

GO!!! It's amazing - providing you are open to being challenged by different cultures. And take a train journey or two. Cheaper than chips and easy to organize. 22 million passengers a day can't be wrong! (Sorry for turning this into the "things that patently don't annoy you" thread!)

    A Strange Custom ?

I'm with CJ. I don't give a stuff if it's a particular "culture" - this is England and English law applies. Locking a woman up and preventing her going about whatever she chooses to do is domestic abuse, pure and simple!

    Energy Suppliers.

If you use OVO energy, they pay you 3% interest on your surplus balance. Better than any bank account or ISA, so it's worth over-paying, then just ask them for it back just before Christmas! They insist you have one month's bill in credit.

Yeah sorry ED ... got sidetracked! Sikhism is one of the things that DOESN'T actually annoy me!!

What Rattles outlines will now qualify under the new definition of domestic abuse, so it's illegal. How big is her old man???

    Things that annoy you

I heard an article on BBC CWR a little while back that the Department for Education were playing silly buggers with the Siva School, as Ofsted had rated the governing academy trust as inadequate, so DfE told them they had to move to a different multi-academy trust which they (the DfE) specified...

Just to say, that is my understanding. You might want to check! I understand Google is good at that sort of thing. But asking on the relevant page of MoneySavingExpert would be a sound idea.

Interesting decision of Warwickshire Highways not to grit Crackley Lane from Kenilworth to Westwood Heath though, given the amount of n-power (or is it E-On?), Network Rail and Uni traffic that uses it as a cut through. Bit dicey in parts this morning.

    Things that annoy you

People who drink coffee out of their stupid fucking "bitty cups" while driving. Probably as much of a hazard as holding a mobile to answer a call ***, as it obscures their view while taking a slurp. And you hear stories of people being prosecuted for not being in proper control of their vehicle...

    Energy Suppliers.

I'd recommend having a word with Citizens Advice, who do a lot on energy suppliers, but you could also report them to Ofgem IF they don't stop doing what they are doing if you have told them to! They cannot change your DD willy-nilly. I think they have to give you 14 days' notice.

Anyone would think there were no additional checks to be an Uber driver!!! It's the sheer NUMBER of the buggers that gets me, stopping at random to let people in and out! And obviously all licensed by the City of Wolverhampton!
