I don’t understand either, especially as we weren’t expecting anyone to come in. Surely it’s better to have Secured the signing of a very good player (even if it’s for the 4 seasons after this one ) than to have secured the signing of nobody.

The semi was at Old Trafford (still the days of neutral ground semi finals ) which would have been even better.

That is the only area of Highfield Rd that I never watched a match from, nearest I got was the occasional last 5 - 10mins when leaving the seats above.

Thinking about it, I’m sure the only semi final to be played at Highfield Rd was a third replay, Arsenal 1 v 0 Liverpool late 1970s. I think my dad went.

They had no choice but to schedule replays within days of the tie back then as a tie could potentially need multiple replays before it’s conclusion.
