Oggy named our greatest ever player.

As I'm of that certain age, then yes. I was around 12/13 when he was at his zenith. Wally and Fergie too.

    Less and less arsed

Shame I didn't realise this 50 years ago. In all seriousness, people won't pay to watch a dull film or play but they WILL to watch their team play, regardless.

    Please not more wilderness years.

Well, not according to those who wanted Robins out. They said they were more than happy to be worse under the new guy.

Yep. I've been going regularly since the 77/78 and then all home and most away since 82/83. Some seasons I've gone to 90% of matches, some just ten or so, but been a STH since the late 80s. No, people can't help when they were born, I get that, but what we're "going through" at the moment is...

    This. Absolutely this.

Yeah, all a bit weird. This thread and a few others are the equivalent of those Facebook threads where someone says they're "struggling" and all their Facebook 'friends' post, "Are you OK, Babe?" in reply. Bet if there was a Wembley trip this coming weekend you'd be "arsed". Cannot understand...

Nope. Might get pissed off, angry. Lose interest? Never.

    Rooney

I mean not having to work his way up the leagues. Debut at 16. Transfer to Utd at 18 for a massive fee. More medals than a war hero. All he knew was success and adulation. I'm not saying he didn't earn all that. I'm saying he hasn't known adversity or lack of success. Until now. He may become...

    JSB Christmas Parties

Used to go with my lad. They were always good fun. Remember one they had at some random health club during the Sixfields season. Callum Wilson and Leon Clarke asked him to play FIFA with them but he refused. I still mention that now.

    Rooney

Which is a hangover from his playing career and my whole point at the beginning of the thread. Everything in his playing career fell into his lap. He obviously expects the same in his managerial career.

    Rooney

I do too, but he needs to swallow his pride and start in non-league or L2. He's not even 40, so he has plenty of time. Every lower league chairman would kill for the revenue and associated publicity he would bring their club.

    Rooney

Exactly this. Just what I was trying, and failing, to explain.

    Different manager, same average players.

Anybody else just want it to be May?

I remember, fondly as it happens, at the end of the 84/85 season when we had to win our last three games, the final match against the Champions, to ensure our survival. We did it and it was bloody great! As you said we've had some shocking times recently. What's happening now is nothing...

Anybody else just want it to be May?

Absolutely. In my 50 years of supporting this club I have witnessed some dire periods. All relative, I know, but things ain't so bad.

    Dean Austin position untenable

I don't get it either. Like all players he has off games and fucks up every now and then but overall I've been impressed with him.

    Dean Austin position untenable

I think he will become a very good player for us. At the halfway stage of the season he's got the 3rd most assists in the Championship.
