    Things that annoy you

They had a geezer on the annoying "In My Opinion" feature on 5Live yesterday morning. Professor from the business school at Bristol Uni: "In my opinion, the Apprentice is not an accurate reflection of the behaviours expected in the world of business". No shit Sherlock - have some more of your...

    Prince Harry

Listening to BBC 5 Live, or any BBC channel (and he's on ITV on Sunday, i hear) in the hope of hearing some *actual* news, rather than publicising his book or Netflix. It is NOT news - it's a domestic argument. Why do the media think everyone is interested? It will all be unsubstantiated because...

I think a few of them have made a go of things - but there have been a few high-profile unfair dismissal claims against Alan Sugar. What do you expect if you employ serial narcissists???

    Things that annoy you

The Apprentice in general. Watched the first one of the new series last night and i'm not sure i'll bother with it anymore. It's become a caricature of itself, and i fear for the world of business if this is any indication of what the best people are like. Luckily, i'm able to rationalise that...

    Latt-eh Nor is it Gee-arn-ee or Gee-oh-varney - it's Jann-ee and Jo-vann-ee (with a soft J - phonetics people would probably spell it Dz)

    Death List 2023

Funny how he is mentioned as a "businessman" and joint Chairman of the 'Ammers, but not that he made his millions from being a porn baron! I notice how Karren Brady is vice chairman :devilish:

    Things that annoy you

There used to be a chain of newsagents called John Menzies, and when i was on holiday north of the border, i was confounded by the locals calling it "Ming-iss", which i took to mean that was the correct (or at least traditional) pronunciation. Who's to say who is right or wrong with language and...

Yes, because he doesn't pronounce it the traditional way. But who's to say whether that is wrong or not? Only him, i'd suggest!

    Things that annoy you

Yeah - semi-silent i s'pose - MING-ISS, right? The other one that boils my piss is the recent rise of the pronunciation of Anthony (as in An-toe-nee) as An-tho-nee, and highly-paid broadcasters saying it wrong!

    Things that annoy you

I suppose it is the way language and names evolve, but people bastardising the pronunciation of their own name is a real pet hate of mine. McFadzean should be pronounced McFadyan as you say. The "TH" in many names should traditionally be a T not TH (as in thong) - so it should be David CoulTARD...

Did you not hear that plank Danny Murphy trying to pronounce Deschamps during the recent World Cup? Laughable!

    Death List 2023

Is it "sick"? Compared to some of the filth the Star peddles, i would say not! But clearly they are members here! I'm not sure Rolf Harris hasn't been mentioned on our version in previous years.

    Coronavirus Thread (Off Topic, Politics)

A: There is no way of predicting whether mutations would lead to milder or more severe infection - it's random mutation followed by selective pressure. In many cases a virus WILL mutate to produce a milder infection, because that is the best way of it passing from one host to the next - Omicron...

I understand from people in the know (via my work) that irrespective of the proportion on the watchlist, the number of foiled "immediate threat" plots in the past few years has been about 50:50 right wing to Islamic fundamentalists. "other" will definitely include animal rights and random...
