    Women's World Cup 2023

Wouldn't be an official state visit though, would it?

    Women's World Cup 2023

I think Prince William has a bigger question to answer. As patron of the FA, he should have had the final date in his diary a couple of years ago, and it is poor to say his diary didn't allow him to attend. There is NO WAY he would have missed a men's final!

I see the nursing manager who was in charge at the time has today been suspended from her post as Nursing Director of an NHS Trust operating 5 hospitals in the Manchester area "in the light of evidence presented at the trial"

Did you see that Panorama special on Friday night? Quite horrifying the way the hospital management were more worried about the hospital's reputation than patient safety or harbouring a killer. Article in The Observer yesterday quotes the consultant who first raised concerns :- "Brearey, who was...

There's nothing 'gammon' about this debate - enough of the Twitter lazy stereotyping, already! Just because you (seemingly) don't agree with the reintroduction of the death penalty for killers whose "cruelty and calculation was truly horrific" (as the judge said in his sentencing remarks) it...

Whole life on each and every guilty verdict. In US she would have 13 consecutive life sentences. Good riddance!

Thanks for the insight. It's what it makes it more surprising that she wasn't told he was near the end and she could say "bollocks to the football - it's only a game. I'm flying home".

How much do you get off fares? Is it worth the outlay?

Defendants not being compelled to be in court to hear the verdict or for sentencing. As with the bastard drug dealer (may he rot in hell) who shot Olivia Pratt-Korbell in Liverpool, the serial killer nurse should be required to be there. But if they don't show their cowardly faces, the...

Apparently it was her family's idea. I think that is shocking. I don't think i would ever forgive my family for withholding that from me for two days? I'm sure she is ballsy enough to have focussed on the game and play harder for her dad. If they knew he was close the end (a long illness, it...

How not to run a train service

Wouldn't have guessed from your posts that you'd be eligible for a senior railcard. Also (just having checked) didn't know *I* can get one next year!! (Bus pass now not available until state pension age, 66 - had missed THAT particular change)

Really? Horses for courses. Probably growing up in a rugby-oriented house, i guess.

    Women's World Cup 2023

I was in Wales on Saturday, but didn't see the match - probably for the best, tbh. Didn't hear much cheering from the pubs - other than the end of the Ireland-England game!

    Women's World Cup 2023

Well i am, but my Mum was Welsh, so growing up in the 70s when Wales were the predominant force in rugby meant ours was a Wales household, which i have hung on to, strangely. As a consequence, i have no urge to see England prosper, particularly as they have played a dull version of the game for...

    Women's World Cup 2023

I didn't watch the match as i was away, but i'm not surprised that we lost having seen previous Spain and England games at this WWC. Spain looked absolutely woeful against Sweden because the Swedes adopted the high-press. Spain only prevailed in the last 15 minutes when Sweden tired and they...

Too right. We need to be more secure in terms of food production in this country, so the drive towards "net zero" only being achieved by renewable energy is a total red herring. It is ludicrous that a farmer can earn more money from giving up his/her land for a solar farm than from food production!

Interesting idea, but the problem then comes with the correlation of high-performing students coming from better schools and wealthier backgrounds, so are more able to afford the fees anyway.

Interesting approach by the National Trust to name their delightful young beaver after the Lionesses!
