    FA allows sex discrimination

There has been much debate as to whether a trans woman taking feminising hormone therapy still retains that physical advantage if she has been through puberty as a biological male. I think some sports' governing bodies have allowed trans women in women's categories provided they have been on the...

    Premier League thread

Phil Brown was on the radio this morning talking about the managerial merry-go-round (or misery-go-round, as he referred to it!). He said when he got 'Ull up to the Prem, they stayed up and Boro were relegated. Brown was reflecting on the different paths careers can take - he is now managing...

    FA allows sex discrimination

Where the f*ck has SF, or me, or anyone else on this thread "sought the approval" of Oakey (i assume that is who you mean by the touching term "some random woman" - a borderline misogynistic comment if ever there was one)? Don't judge us by your standards. And just dial back on the aggression...

    FA allows sex discrimination

For what it's worth, I'm not a woman, but those are the arguments, yes. But it comes down to dignity and respect for women too, and many will find the presence of a biological male (a term which is not contrary to EA 2010) unsettling or anxiety inducing.

    FA allows sex discrimination

I know (personally, not anecdotally) of a trans-woman who plays for their university's women's football team, along with two other trans-women. That is not only conferring an unfair physical advantage on other women's teams but also denies three "cis-women" (i include the quotation marks because...

    FA allows sex discrimination

It's an easy mistake to make in this day and age when the terms are so often used interchangeably. I sit on a research ethics committee at my place of work, and authors of applications frequently tie themselves in knots with the terminology. It is one thing to say you are going to collect data...

    FA allows sex discrimination

It could be argued that there are a number of trans women who have chosen to change sex for cynical reasons to enable themselves to succeed in women's sport where they were also-rans in men's. I forget the names now, but there are several across a number of sports. I stand with @oakey

Am i alone in hoping that Kieran McKenna stays at Ipswich to finish the job? I am not a fan of a manager getting promotion, sometimes against the odds, then getting snapped up by a club in the division they have been promoted to, when they really don't have a great track record in that division...

    Things that annoy you

Not sure if this belongs here or on the Death List thread, but there are a number of things about death and dying (other than the actual act) that trigger me:- 1. "I'm sorry for your loss". F*cking bland "Hallmark Cards" tagline which everyone rolls out, parrot-fashion, in response to the news...

    Israel - Palestinian Conflict

Jewish people may believe they have an enhanced ability/right to call upon divine intervention, but it crashed due to extreme weather. Nothing else. The question could be asked as to why they were flying, but i don't suppose Mossad makes the Iranian government's travel arrangements. Besides...

Wasps go to bottom of the pyramid

It's essentially Mike Ashley's entire business model, isn't it? (Although, for the avoidance of doubt, he isn't generally involved in their operation before they crash and he buys them for a song out of administration/insolvency, and hasn't done anything illegal)

    Things that annoy you

We currently have a 16 year mortgage whose end coincides with my state pension age. We took out a TEN year fix at the beginning. It was a bit over the odds compared to shorter fixes available at the time (3.65%), but we wanted the certainty of being able to afford it in ten years' time just as...

    Eurovision Song Contest

Croatia was presumably a vote based on the popularity of the song or the act, as they don't require anyone's sympathy. They are probably among the "nice guys" of Europe, who have done no-one any harm in recent years, but i doubt that is enough to encourage a political vote. As for UK getting...
