OK - that's not what Grendel's post said.

Agree - it's not his place to comment at all

    Manchester Airport Incident

That is 100% horseshit - the copper used force which any reasonable person would consider as disproportionate, given the bloke was lying prone on the floor. Nothing that he had done prior to this video can change that. Burnham is talking out of his arse!

The hottest *insert month* on record checker.

To use my solar panels as an indicator, in December (the darkest month), i generated just 83.6 kWh in the whole month. Compare this with June (the sunniest month so far, but not great as summer months go, as this thread has exemplified), in which i generated 963.1 kWh for the month (of which i...

Not "Dr" John Richmond, by any chance?

The hottest *insert month* on record checker.

Interesting point, but I'm not sure - the news report was about maximum temperatures, so i thought i'd look at that.

The hottest *insert month* on record checker.

OK, so this report refers to last year UK getting more hot and more wet days – Met Office But this year's data don't seem to support the trend. Here is the max temp data for the past 8 weeks (i.e. meteorological summer so far) for my local weather station (Pershore, Worcs), showing there have...

    Manchester Airport Incident

A more appropriate course of action would be to grab his hands and cuff them behind his back to neutralise any threat, not kick him senseless!

    Manchester Airport Incident

Now been suspended from all duties. If it is appropriate now, it was appropriate in the immediate aftermath, and it is indicative of either weak leadership or an atrocious culture (possibly both).

    Gillingham Stabbing

They always are in this type of situation, as they have primacy until such time as they decide it is NOT terrorism, when they hand it back to local plod. Similar to deaths in the workplace (etc.), where the police will first establish whether there is any criminal basis, and if there isn't...

    Manchester Airport Incident

He is guilty (at least on the face of the video evidence) of assault at least. It could be regarded as violent conduct, grievious bodily harm with intent, or even, as shmee said, attempted murder. If that lad had a bleed on the brain and died (which may happen some time in the future), it would...

    Manchester Airport Incident

To be fair to him (and i generally think he's a knob), it was him who commissioned the independent inquiry into GMP.

    Manchester Airport Incident

GMP are on a par with the Met on that score, apparently, and have been the subject of a fairly recent (i.e. LAST WEEK) independent review by a top barrister into the treatment of women by their officers.

    Manchester Airport Incident

I'm actually quite surprised by the consensus of opinion on here. The police are bound by the same laws that we all are: if a reasonable person would view the response as disproportionate, he has committed an offence. It could be argued that the high levels of training that the police undergo...

Wonder how much of that is a sampling exercise though? There must be a huge admin load to check all of them, so why not make the pharmacist verify your PP cert?

JSB now exclusive to Season Tickets

It's clearly an inducement to sell more STs, but with more and more "school night" matches, buying an ST for your kid/s makes less and less sense, as they will have to miss those matches. If they have to attach a nominal fee to JSB membership (e.g. to cover the cost of the gifts, etc), so be it...

That's all they ask me. I wonder what would happen ? is there some kind of back-office cross-check that will catch you out?

    Things that annoy you

So why do they never want to see my pre-payment certificate when i collect a prescription? I just have to say "yes i have one". It would be easy enough for them to ask to see it. That is the biggest fraud opportunity!
