    FA Cup 4th Round

The only good thing about that draw is that it’s home and another 20 points in the bag.

Which presumably means there’s money in the pot. With Sheaf being out for 5-6 weeks, signing a RW just isn’t a priority for this window. The spectre of FFP is also probably looking too somehow. We’re operating on smaller revenues than the big boys in this league on parachute payments.

Spine for the rest of the season

It’s nothing against Binks or Lati, all season I’ve been convinced we just don’t concede as many goals with a pairing of Kitching and Thomas. If you can make a healthy profit of £1.5-2m on Lati, it makes sense for both parties to move him on.

Spine for the rest of the season

Allen has definitely added an extra dimension that we didn’t have because he’s a lot more energetic than Sheaf, Torp and Eccles. He was a good conduit for Torp and Rudoni in the 3 CM shape. Good role player and has some leadership credentials the team badly needs but we definitely need to move...

    Signing next 48hrs

Which makes sense, Thomas would make a fine addition to the team but when you have Wright, EMC, Sakamoto with Rudoni as a cover option, it’s less pressing than CM. We’ve not got a RB to cover MVE so in terms or prioritising which areas to strengthen, a RW would’ve been a pleasant surprise in...

My impression is that we tried to be too clever with how we set out to play.

It’s cost Robins his job to be honest. He should have kept faith in the team from last season and found a way to integrate EMC and Rudoni in the team as a foundation. We’ve looked far better defensively with Kitching at CB in the team all season.

Did you not see how well Bidwell played v Norwich and in 22/23 at LWB?

How do you solve a problem like Ben Sheaf

There’s nothing wrong with being ambitious, I’m pretty certain Kalvin Phillips was a Championship player around Sheaf’s age. I just wouldn’t bet on that outcome. Establish Premier league player one day, sure.

I’d adapt that to a 5-3-2 personally. Thomas/Lati at RCB and play Simms and BTA up front. I doubt Rapha is ready to start a game yet.

    Transfer Rumour Samuel Rak-Sakyi

Considering he wasn’t at the races for us or Blackburn, it’s probably more likely the case that last year was a great experience for him in terms of development but wasn’t quite ready to make a mark at our level. So often in football, you’ve just got to be at the right place at the right time...

How do you solve a problem like Ben Sheaf

That’s an unfair characterisation. Some players just need their minutes managed more than others. If you have a player that gets injured quite often, it’s just common sense you mitigate the risk. As it happens, Sheaf has one of the highest minutes per game whenever he plays.

    Transfer Rumour January transfer window

The wage issue being an important point because it’s why we’ll lose out on the top end free agents and rely on ‘up and coming’ players on lower wages, but higher transfer fees. Of that list of 24, 4 players at least are complete non-factors; Tavares, Rapha, Tyler, 3rd choice GK...

    Transfer Rumour January transfer window

Somewhat sceptical of this because we’ve needed and nearly signed several CMs since the summer. Are you sure it is 1 in, 1 out for the whole squad or just certain positions. For example, it probably would make sense if we did a one in/out for CBs. When we say ‘the money is gone’, is that for...

    What Happened Last Season?

There’s a lack of depth across the board. After Sakamoto got injured the issue was more that we didn’t have the right players to play in the system. If you look at midfield, you’ve got Sheaf and Eccles playing more or less every single minute in games because Torp struggled for fitness and...

    Mason-Clark Appreciation Thread

He scored all his goals playing upfront this season with the exception of Oxford at home. His main position in his career has been striker and it’s only been Robins who’s tried to convert him to a LW.

No, but BTA played a couple of games a RW even as a sub iirc in the league and cup.

It’s all dependent on Simms hitting some form. If he doesn’t, Wright will play upfront and EMC LW with a fully fit and ready squad.
