    Ashley Cole

And to confirm the bias, when I saw a thread with him as the title my immediate thought was “what has he done now”. Fantastic player, hugely underrated especially defensively.

    UEFA EURO 2024

The one thing I’m slightly comforting myself with is that we never looked like conceding. Plenty of areas to improve on though. Fully expecting a cagey draw v Denmark as that has tended to be Southgate’s way - guarantees us through and puts us in pole position to finish top. Denmark would likely...

    UEFA EURO 2024

Yeah France looked good but, bizarrely, weren’t clinical enough. Portugal also looked very handy but Czechia did literally nothing.

The good news is if he applied today he’d probably have it set up within 2 hours.

I always enjoy the irony of these types wanting to cut foreign aid, which then results in increased migration demand.

    UEFA EURO 2024

Yeah first 20 I really liked the look of the setup. Couldn’t put my finger on what changed but we went really sterile after that. Foden can definitely work at LW (think he played well there v Senegal at the last World Cup) but he absolutely has to hold width better than he was last night. I get...

I wish there was more morning coverage of the Euros. Would be great to shave a daily ‘Football Focus’ style show.

I find it quite interesting on a sociological level. I’ll preface this by saying that, by and large, I can see the point around perceived ‘lack of principles’ but there are so many external factors which have changed, and is it not better to have a pragmatist in charge than an ideologue?

So you’re saying we had to reduce our signing on bonus by a tenner and that’s made the deal fall through?

Think the theory behind it is fairly sound - plenty who purchased houses back in the 70s and 80s have seen exponential growth in their wealth without really doing anything. In practice, though, I struggle to see how it works: you’d effectively reduce housing market liquidity for exactly the...

    UEFA EURO 2024

Beckham was a big problem really as he could only properly function in a 442 and was the pin-up of the time. Don’t get me wrong, great player, but meant we had to sacrifice the rest of the team structure. That’s not necessarily isolated to 2004 though as you’d still have to accommodate Rooney...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

It’s interesting how the true patriots (TM) among us want: - No more people - No more houses - No more anything - Economic stagnation - The health of our aging demographic covered by lower tax receipts - Britain to naturally regress to an ‘also-ran’ nation
