    Dovin

The fact he’s unsighted is being underplayed. The ball would have been fully hidden behind Lati when struck so he has to use body shape as a guide. Don’t get me wrong, it went horribly wrong and he has to take the blame for it, but there’s a fairly rational explanation of how it happened.

To flip it on its head, what are Robins’ strengths?

    Manchester Airport Incident

I find the whole ‘two tier’ thing absolute bollocks. However, the fact charges are yet to be brought really isn’t a good look. Clearly we don’t know what else they are accused of and how much investigation is subsequently required, but you’d have thought they were really pushing for an outcome...

    And with that Simms chance....

I’m sure there’s a parallel universe where Ipswich beat us to Simms’ signing and he was top scorer in the Championship last season.

    And with that Simms chance....

I actually thought we started seeing a player break out last season. He started to be far more involved, but he still looks like he’s never actually seen a football before let alone kicked one.

    Rudoni …?

I just think structurally our midfield stinks at the moment. It’s too fluid - you’ve got 3 players basically trying to play as 8s. Tell someone to rein it in.

    And with that Simms chance....

If he’s passing it he needs to do it almost first touch, take it on his right to bend it round the remaining defender and into space. As soon as he’s taken that touch outside it’s never realistically on.

    And with that Simms chance....

My brain cannot compute how he came through a PL academy.

    Time's Up

And it pains me to say I’m falling down on the ‘manager’ side at present. I really believe this is a good squad of players being mishandled. I hope something clicks and we can forget this episode ever happened but I don’t think it’ll play out that way.

Nothing against Eccles, but I’ve been keen to see Torp and Sheaf starting together. With Eccles’ knock tonight, probably see it Saturday.

You don’t take Wright off at this point.

An absolute chasm between midfield and attack at times.

Not a game for mobility really. Could do with someone sitting in that area of the pitch rather than going walkies every 2 minutes (not aimed necessarily at Eccles, collectively we are far too fluid).

I’d actually get Sakamoto on for Eccles, push Lati into CM and flip to a back 4.

So what you’re saying is we should carry on being negative and the players will play better? Fine by me.

@Brighton Sky Blue not that i agree with it, but that’s why teams have all their players back defending corners.

    Sheaf

And if I recall correctly, it happened fairly early on in pre-season. If it was the back-end of the window I think it could be forgiven slightly, but we had plenty of warning.

    Sheaf

Was thinking this myself and the general midfield dynamic is far too fluid. None of them seem to have defined roles so it gets quite messy.

    Respect for Latibeudiere

I’m generally a bit pissed off we haven’t used the free agent market more. It’s like we’ve felt we have to spend all the cash in the bank. When I say free agents, I’m meaning back in the summer, players like Browne. Not those still sitting on the sofa in October.

    Time's Up

Nonsense though ain’t it. We’ve spent ballpark £12m on defenders since he came in. Simms and Wright about £11m and delivered last year. What is the main difference between last season and this season? Within that lies your answer.
