Match Thread Coventry City - Middlesbrough Match Thread - Saturday 3rd May

I don’t think he did. I think he went for the ball and there was a coming together and he wasn’t careless. He’s entitled to run towards the ball. Anyway I’m only still doing this to wind Evo up

He was last man. He didn’t commit a foul.

Bang for your buck is probably Bristol v Preston and Millwall v Burnley if I were Sky programmer.

Add in a GK and probably a RW, maybe a CM or two and it gets expensive. I wouldn’t be averse to selling one or more of the stars as it’s Lampards first full window and not his squad TBF.

Also Leeds/Burnley if the title isn’t decided?

    Lampard

Yeah I think I agree though I’m coming round to the idea a new ST would make the most difference. There were signs Sheaf Grimes and Rudoni could be a decent midfield but still feel we need better in the box to box profile and better backup for Rudoni, Torp is OK but a slightly different profile...

I reckon if Bristol lose tonight they’ll use their game as its both play offs and relegation.

    Championship thread 24/25!

You just have to look at the reaction to Hamer on here. Guy is probably the most entertaining player I’ve seen at City in twenty years and all anyone can talk about is how if he just cut his entire personality and spent all day worrying about protein intake he’d be 3% better. Yeah but he’d be...

Yeah Grimes was a really smart signing and if his others are similar fits for what we need it’ll be a good summer.

It’s the words from King I’m going off. Though agreed he does always play it down. I think if you want a top three push you need 8-9 quality players on top of what we’ve got which is a lot before you get to the impact on the wage bill. I think we’ve looked OK. We’ve looked shaky at the back and...

Be the best of the rest. Or that. I don’t think many teams outside the parachute clubs tend to maintain a whole season of form TBF.

    Lampard

That ten game run was great fun, but come on are you saying we looked great? I think we’ll have a fun season and might make play offs. But I’m not seeing a team about to do a Sunderland without some serious surgery (like more than Doug would spend), or a step change in our tactics and set up.

Well see. Jury is out for me. We seem to be up for some big games but out thought and out fought in others. I’m willing to believe this deck is mentally weak and overall has quite a low ceiling. I’m just not seeing much from Lampard that he’s capable of a push for 4th over a season. I think...

Im not! Im using the two thirds of his games outside his purple patch. I don’t see a team about to storm the league. Maybe im wrong.

It’s more 1.5 than 2 or 1. We’re an upper midtable side. I don’t expect us to go further without an improvement in either squad quality or managerial nous.
  16. shmmeee

    Lampard

Im using your numbers! 🤣 People have in fact been calling last season a poor season. But we’ve hit about 1.5ppg the last four years (including this season). Maybe that’s just our level?
  17. shmmeee

    Lampard

The season isn’t a failure. We’re a 5-10th level team and like all the others (Boro, WBA, Norwich, Millwall) will finish around there give or take the odd result.
  18. shmmeee

    Lampard

Do a Sunderland and be crap for the second half instead? I don’t think we’ve got the funds to build a squad that can go all year tbh.
  19. shmmeee

    Lampard

And I’m confident we wouldn’t have collapsed without the VAR decision last season but we did and that’s football. Ultimately where you end up is all that matters.

58-69 points is pretty much 5-10th. It’s roughly where we’ve been since our first season up.
