I think there was a pretty obvious diplomatic path forward being spearheaded by the Trump administration, but Israel has decided to ignore all that and go straight to the bombs.

Feels like Israel, Russia and Ukraine all seem to be totally ignoring the Trump administration at this point. Whether Trump himself has just lost a few steps, or is just totally disengaged, his claims to be able to resolve these conflicts are in tatters right now.
