Just read on their site that further allocation been given to them following sell out of initial 900 allocation. Should make for a good atmosphere and regardless of the pre-season results I am looking forward to the game. PUSB

That's good news as it should be a decent atmosphere on Saturday.Like you I'm not too concerned with the pre-season and can't wait for the Wigan match.Pressure is on Wigan this season as they are touted for a quick return to the Championship,but so were we if I recall !

900?! For their opening game of the season it proves what a Mickey mouse club they are.

Only Dave Whelan's money got them to where they got, but as he was an English - not foreign - owner, Wigan were not criticised for buying their way to 'success'.

I hope they continue falling through the leagues.

To be fair, they've had 900 tickets and sold them. If you don't have more than that initially, you can't sell more!

Wigan will average between 7000 - 10000 this season I reckon and to think that they won the FA Cup a few season ago!

And it took them a week to sell them for an attractive fixture, opening day, cheap tickets and ground the majority of them haven't visited.

I don't get your point? Surely selling 900 tickets in a week isn't too bad? Also, this is league 1 and most Wigan fans will hold their hands up and admit that their support isn't massive. I don't get the fuss.

Problem is it's a rugby town and a small town. 11,000 is about one 8th of the population.

It seems they attract supporters in better ratios than certain cities I could mention.

Not forgetting they are geographically sandwiched right in-between the more tempting offers of supporting Man United, Man City, Liverpool or Everton.

If you do it will be one of the biggest followings I can remember in league one.

I can't recall Sheffield United bringing that many.

people seem to prefer lower league football in wigan..myself for one.. going away in the premiership paying massive prices for tickets and getting beat most weeks does not really get everybody on board.

Wigan were getting 1,000 fans at home 15-20 years ago, when they got into the Prem they had 16,000. So, wouldn't that not be down to 'success'?

Believe it or not, a successful team usually gets more fans than unsuccessful teams. Have a think why and get back to me.

I think any less than 2000 is poor. A club who which has had a lot of success in recent years. Probably the cheapest away tickets they have had in 5 years.
