Attendance for Gillingham (1 Viewer)

Just read on twitter that the North stand will be shut reducing the attendance to 18,000. Is this true?

I see some conversations with the club on twitter saying that the stand will be shut. I am hoping this will be for the rest of the season not for the Gillingham game. I think they have said if the attendance hits 18,000 they will open the stand. I think the club are planning to allow home supporters in the other end with less segregation between the away supporters. In fairness some people have been calling for them to try and create a better atmosphere by putting home fans nearer to the away fans for some time. I'm sure some will have a moan about this but I actually think this is being done for the right reasons.

As Jungle says, from the conversations, it appears that the North stand will be shut unless we reach around 18,000 attendance, in which case they would open it. This is so that the fans aren't split across the stadium, but closer together for an atmosphere.

Though, Gillingham game, could likely be open with the number of people wanting to go, with it being the first game back and the reduced prices

Seems a good idea to me.

so the club haven't said the north stand will be closed for the Gills game?

They've just made a general comment for the season?

Correct, they said it will be open only for the games where the ticket demand is there. It will be open against Gillingham I am sure.

They will only shut the North Stand when there is less than 18,000 attendance and the South stand will now be open so that home fans can sit near the away fans..

Is there a book running on attendance, there seems to be a lot of expectations for what seem unreasonably high ticket sales.

Don't see why 20k is unreasonable. Frankly we should sell out being first home game in over a year.

It will sell out, of course it will. As long as they get the tickets up to sell sharpish!

Tend to agree - the less time they leave for fans to buy them, the bigger the impact on the attendance. Shame if they cock this up - suspect it's due to having cut staff and logistics of returning.

I can't see the game selling out.

Is there a day on which they go on sale?

"early next week" says Monday (today) or Tuesday to me. A very vague timescale IMO.

They should have said (day) at (time).

The longer the tickets take to be put on sale the less chance of a sell-out (obviously). Les time for ticket sale momentum to build and for floating fans to be talked into going.

Still can't see less than 20,000. And will be disappointed if its less than 25,000.
