Doug King/Dean Austin spat (5 Viewers)

It’s ok though they’re all African superstars and everyone was lining up to sign them ?

We were first to be promoted. When the window opened June 15th, I waited to see who they had lined up to buy.
Nothing.
We now have Nottingham Forests 4th choice striker. Brentfords unwanted defender. Relegated Burnleys winger and a man city player who played 8 times for Watford last season. Many signings came very late.
It has been an absolutely baffling transfer window and some one is responsible
I've covered this before.
A World Cup throws everything out.
We probably had players lined up that wanted to wait until afterwards - if they do ok, they open themselves up to much bigger fish in the sea.

Ipswich are a Prem season ahead of us wages wise.
Hulls owner is mental and doesn't give a shit about dropping them in the shit.

We will have been after decent players - other teams will have been after the same players. See above.

1 defender on the bench because we are playing a 5 and KKH is injured to be fair

Yirenkyi and Gboho absolutely have to come in and play
But we signed players for a 4 3 3… if we’re sticking with a 5 and lose a centre half we’re picking wolfenden, Lati or an 18 year old kid.. we needed at least one more quality centre half instead of a load of midfielders that can’t even get a game. You’re right yirenki and gboho have to start…can tell after 4 games grimes is miles off

I just think we need to try and find our best team and give it a run of games

The international break will be very very much needed for who’s still here

Why are people going on about the international break?

We have massive breaks between each game (this week excluded) for training etc?

Yeah.. normally hate an international break but we need this one… hopefully get something at forest but after the break set up at against Newcastle 433… go back to what we’re good at..attacking football. Wev’e never been able to defend in games against top sides.. I’d rather lose by having a go at least

Hamer was a shirt-selling signing, I'm sure of it
Well that was a waste as the three I saw with his name and number on were all fakes

I think we’re gonna have a fabulous Championship side for next year when we’ve bedded all these relative unknowns in by Christmas. 🎅

22 hours 30 minutes until the team is announced for tomorrow's game.
i think that will answer some questions.
Tchouna made an interesting Instagram story today. Just a picture that looked 'pissed off'/ frustrated

Still up if anyone wants a look
Unrest behind the scenes me thinks

The problem is we haven't seen enough of him to judge. I find it a little bizarre that we spend that amount on a player ( a lot by our standards ) and he's not starting.
We haven't yes, Lampard has. It is by no means to say he won't
I gave your post a like albeit a bit reluctantly. Your observations are also going through my head and they were as the summer rolled on.

Rushworth I was excited about, but lots of the signings are 'bringing Premier League experience' because they were surplus elsewhere.

After five games the new players haven't shown this to be mistaken yet, but I hope they will.
Which first choice premier League players were going to leave their clubs to try here? Come on man be realistic

Did we have a random break in the middle of our own preseason? Swear I heard that.

I think essentially we are at panic stations and feel we need another preseason to try and figure out our best team and get prepared as we've failed to do that at the first time of asking.

We had a weekoff and Lampard went on holiday with Christine and the excuse on here was "its ok as we started a week earlier thaneveryoen"

Whatever the heated argument was about he can’t blame Austin for the signings… yet anyone.

They’ve hardly played and the question really is why isn’t Lampard playing them.

Look I like it if King is angry and he should be. Fans aren’t happy and he can see the offering as a product isn’t matching what he wants.

I suspect he wants results asap to protect the brand.

Promoted with games to spare, plenty of time to prepare, yet four games in, 8 of the starting XI are from the Championship and £100m of signings are on the bench or outside the XI.

Either Lampard doesn’t rate them, or they’re not ready. Either way it’s poor planning and Doug won’t be happy

The signings seem fine to me, maybe you could say a couple of strange ones like Pinnock & Awoniyi as now seemingly first choice players, but could barely get a kick for a few years for midtable sides. But generally I think we've done pretty well.

We've had a tough start playing 2 of the leagues best teams away from home, another team we never beat and a team in Brighton who were scoring for fun before our game. If we keep Brighton to 2-0 no body panics, they were by far the better side for the first 20 minutes or so but we got our selves back into and could have taken the lead at 0-0 and really should have scored straight after the second half kicked off too. We were a shambles after the sending off.

Lampard doesn't seem to have a clue on what formation, style or personnel he wants in his side currently. I would drop the whole midfield straight away. Ghobo, Yirenkyi, Hamer, Loum. Rudi, EMC & Grimes look way off the pace so far.

Lampard is the one not playing the new signings so I don’t see how that’s Austin’s fault unless Lampard has told King they’re all shit in which case we’re completely fucked.

That would mean meek relegation, nobody to sell on for profit and no quality added for a promotion push next season.

It’s too early to make that judgement now but if Lampard thinks the new signings are pony he can make the point by playing them and letting it be seen on the pitch. I doubt it can be worse than the shite served up by the championship lot on Saturday.

Rudi and emc not 100% fit why start them

Also, whoever decided Sheffield United’s fat little mascot would be a useful premier league signing should have a P45 already.

I think he was always signed with one eye on the Championship, I think that's why we've also seen so little movement out of the club.

Let's be honest, King can blame Austin but he has to take some responsibility.

The directive from King to Austin would be to buy young talent we can develop and make profit on.
Indeed.

King is the one that ultimately has the say and will have told the recruitment team the limits he's willing to spend on wages and fees and that the model is to bring in young players to develop and sell at a profit. He's the one that said we'd be giving the Championship winning team a chance. If that is the directive then he can hardly be surprised that the players on the pitch aren't up to PL level yet.

I think King had unrealistic expectations of what those already here and those we could bring in within his parameters would be capable of and now he's angry those unrealistic expectations aren't being met even though pretty much every fan would tell you it gets you a team that will get relegated.

If there's things he could be asking questions about it's how fragile the players seem to have become over the summer and the confidence gone before we even started. It's almost like Lampard has been telling them how hard it will be (See Grimes' interview) and it's got into their heads and scared them so they're playing within themselves. Then there's the lack of using the new signings and the complete lack of any sense of a gameplan or structure. But those are questions that need to be aimed at Lampard and the coaching team, not Austin.

Best striker - Wright
Best AM - Rudoni
Best LB - Dasilva
Best RB - MvE
Best keeper - Rushworth

So you’re starting out with over 50% of your best first XI being championship players you’re hoping will step up.

Thats before you work out if Pinnock is better than Thomas, Yirenkyi is better than Onyeka/Grimes and the new wingers are any good.

It’s not ideal is it.

Anybody else finding it a little bit funny how wrong it’s all going after just FOUR matches 😂😂😂😂. God help me I do love this club 🩵🩵

In my opinion the issue has came about from the decision really early this summer to announce the club going with the bulk of the promotion squad into the prem. We have made a rod for our own back in my view and those players feel let down and new players probably feel like they have crashed a party uninvited.

The short term this will probably get more painful, but in the long term we should get the answer on those brought in and those the powers trusted to step up.

I’m still baffled we didn't go for Louza from Watford. He basically said come get me posting himself in a city shirt over the summer, and he went for just £7m in the end. Huge missed opportunity.

Same with Zain Fleming… but Doug wouldn’t touch him because at 28 there’s no resale value.

I dont think it's fair to suggest Doug does all for a return of a investment based solely on transfer fee. He bought Grimes 29 years for 4 mill, Pinnock, Bentley and Awoniyi. Extended Wilson, Bidwell and Tatsu all older than Flemming. The other thing is we dont know if we tried to sign Flemming.

Too much based on assumption.
