Doug King/Dean Austin spat (5 Viewers)

We've been here before in recent memory. I remember after the Luton play off rebuild reading on here leaks by older players to ITKs that the new players were not up to standard. We've wasted the money etc. Those players ended the season with an FA Cup semi final, next season playoffs, then champions.

Way too early to know if the current crop of players will take us to the next level or not. Also way too early to decide how many of last seasons team can make the step up.

Still everything to play for, obvs would be great if it started well like Hull or Ipswich, but we are where we are. When we first got back to the championship it felt like we wouldn't cut it at times early on. But we grew into the season. Its a tough ask to do it again but we always knew it would be.

If one of the most decorated footballers of his generation who played the same position doesn't know, perhaps it isn't true.

Lots of optimism bias about Yirenki at the moment.
The problem is we haven't seen enough of him to judge. I find it a little bizarre that we spend that amount on a player ( a lot by our standards ) and he's not starting.

I did reach out to Dean at the start of the summer to ask if he needed support.

He didn't. Perhaps he regrets not saying yes now.

It really doesn’t matter whether Austin stays or goes at this stage, the horse has already bolted…..into a field to serve his 3-match suspension.

Maybe, but if your owner and head of recruitment or whatever Austin is now have a public argument the rumour mill is bound to go into overdrive
Started by cwr....
Just after gurney said it he said he's too scared to ask lampard questions. 😂

I have it on good authority that the fucking mess being referred to is how the second chorus of WLADITT is wrong footing 30,000 fans.

In no way am I defending Austin or King but how can the recruitment be judged when the signings are not being played ?
Bizarre
Thats possibly what King was upset about.
Hes put up enough money to buy a new team, and yet we stick with championship players, and look suprised when its men against boys.
Grimes, EMC and BTA look well out of place at this level.

I think Doug is totally out of his depth. Made a maverick decision in sacking Robins, lucked out on Lampard, I reckon he would have been equally wowed by Rooney. Don’t think either will be here by the end of next season.

When we’re preparing for League One?

22 hours 30 minutes until the team is announced for tomorrow's game.
i think that will answer some questions.

Bit harsh to have a go at Austin this soon. No way to be sure our poor form to start season is about player quality
If it's true, and it's a big if at this point, then I guess it would a case of King being pissed off at having spent a huge amount of money to be getting turned over.

Who is he going to blame of the three people involved? Not himself and not his mate Lampard.

Let's be honest, King can blame Austin but he has to take some responsibility.

The directive from King to Austin would be to buy young talent we can develop and make profit on.

Really respect your footballing opinions so I'm pretty interested to hear more on this.

Which bit has convinced you he’s out of his depth? Transforming the training ground, securing the stadium or facilitating our return to the top flight after 25 years.

No doubt he will be fuming with players like Loum and Yirenkyi on the bench, who we’ve paid good money for, with Gboho nowhere to be seen. Add to that Hamer.

No idea what’s going on but we seem to have bought a few players who are no where near ready to compete for a lot of money …..
I mean , what the fuck happened with Markhelo as well ?!
Dean Austin is a nailed on Villa prick isn’t he?

We were first to be promoted. When the window opened June 15th, I waited to see who they had lined up to buy.
Nothing.
We now have Nottingham Forests 4th choice striker. Brentfords unwanted defender. Relegated Burnleys winger and a man city player who played 8 times for Watford last season. Many signings came very late.
It has been an absolutely baffling transfer window and some one is responsible

That’s what happens when you fuck up the biggest transfer window we’ve ever had… squad is so out of balance..1 defender on the bench Sunday.. and if MVE doesn’t play tomorrow we haven’t even got a RB…8 players Sunday that started last season…it’s starting to get embarrassing..we’ve either signed players who aren’t fit enough or just aren’t good enough…

1 defender on the bench because we are playing a 5 and KKH is injured to be fair

Yirenkyi and Gboho absolutely have to come in and play

I gave your post a like albeit a bit reluctantly. Your observations are also going through my head and they were as the summer rolled on.

Rushworth I was excited about, but lots of the signings are 'bringing Premier League experience' because they were surplus elsewhere.

After five games the new players haven't shown this to be mistaken yet, but I hope they will.

It’s ok though they’re all African superstars and everyone was lining up to sign them ?

Awoniyi not an eyebrow raising addition. And I’m as disappointed with the Pinnock signing as I’m baffled with the Hamer signing.
