What do you think our best XI is?

Obviously there's some caveats and unkowns - we haven't seen Mfuni or Gboho yet, haven't seen much of Cherif and even Yirenkyi/Tchaouna

But what do you think is/will be our best lineup.

I'm going with this:

Rushworth

MVE - Amenda - Pinnock - Dasilva

Yirenkyi - Onyeka

Tchaouna - Rudoni - Gboho

Awoniyi

Few notes:
Almost put Thomas in instead of Pinnock. Not sure how Pinnock would fare in a back 4 but opted for his experience over Bobby. Tough call either way though.
Yirenkyi has to start. He is a little raw, but he's a brilliant talent and gives us something different there.
I put Gboho straight in without seeing him play. Looks an exciting talent and will offer more pace than EMC
Could see Cherif forcing his way in to the starting lineup at some point, but I'll stick with Awoniyi for now

What you said, maybe Thomas in for Pinnock. Even be tempted to put Mfuni in to see if he's better than Dasilva, which I suspect he may be.

Agreed with this but Thomas in for Pinnock.

Absolutely must be getting fatty on the pitch aswell when needing to unpick a defence

This but with Bobby over Pinnock.

I wouldn't. Dasilva has literally been the only player who has stepped up competently, which is incredible given what most of us were thinking in the summer.

Stepping up competently isn't a huge flex, it just seems that way in comparison to other things that have been going on. He's been steady. I'd still like to see if Mfuni is better. If Dasilva is our top performer, i can't even explain how much trouble we are in.

Rushworth
MVE Thomas Amenda Mfuni
Onyeka Yerinkyi
Tchaouna Gboho EMC
Cherif

Need to play that every game to get some rhythm. Drop EMC for Awoniyi and play Cherif on the wing when hes back

Well tbf it wasn't at Arsenal where he was mostly anonymous
My point is he needs to be playing the majority of minutes to adapt to the level and ultimately make midfield less weak than it is now.

Grimes is not the answer in there whatsoever.

I'd like to see Hamer get himself fit enough to have a role in our midfield, it's pretty disappointing on him if he hasn't done that yet. If fit he can play at a higher intensity than certainly Grimes and probably Onyeka.

If anything he looked larger yesterday. Like a 40 year old Sunday league player.

Centre mid is what is going to kill us this season.
And surely it doesn’t help playing 5 at the back? We just get overrun in midfield. The problem is exacerbated by the number of defenders we’ve bought. Recruitment a bit lopsided/haphazard? He’ll change the side on Wednesday night, and maybe he’ll hit on our best side, almost by accident. It’s been mentioned before, but that was nearly our championship side from last year at the start of the game. 8 of the starters from last season, it’s maybe asking a lot to expect them to all step up to the required level.

We can play with the same amount of traditional midfielders in a back 3 or back 4.

Yesterday you had basically 2 with Grimes pressing the centre half and Rudoni fannying baout on the wing. It was set up totally wrong

We've asked 8 players from last season to play, but none of them playing roles that they were successful in.

People are getting far too hung up on the number at the back of the formation. It’s meaningless. If we stick with that then we have to create a hybrid 541/box setup. In theory at least, start as a box, filter play out wide, then one of the AMs drops into that winger/wide midfield position to prevent the double-up on the wing back, whilst the other stays and retains a 3 in the middle. The two AMs/wingers in this system clearly don’t quite know what they’re meant to be doing.

Cant see it happening with how loyal Frank is to certain players, but id like to see Mfuni ahead of JDS to see how he looks. I think we also need get Hamer in aswell. Rotate him with Yirenkyi and FTT. Granted hes unfit, but hes no slower than Grimes and can at least create something. And hes not going to get any fitter sitting on the fucking bench every week is he!?!

Well Frank hasn't worked it out yet.

But if you don't give Mfuni a try you'll never know if he is better than JDS and it will have been a total waste bringing him in

Other than Rushworth, Grimes, Thomas, JDS and MVE

I’d say only JDS and Bobby came out with any real credit, and that’s taking into account the fact Bobby also gave away the penalty but by that point it was pretty much gone anyway
