I just don't think he offers what we need most at this point in time.

Really can’t see this argument tbh. Any team needs good players and he’s more versatile than any of our existing midfielders. Feels more like you’ve spent ages saying he’s crap so you don’t want him.

We could do with a bit more athletiscm in midfield, but Hamer is better than Torp and Eccles so even if he's not the exact profile of player we need he still instantly improves us.

That's not true really is it. The biggest problems at the moment aren't going forward but leaving acres of space in midfield. First and foremost get someone in who can help address that.

If we don’t sign a cm then it’s clear Frank hasn’t been backed, it’s a real shame as he was basically begging a few weeks before the window opened. Esse is a good signing but we are still short
Let's wait and see what happens by the time the window shuts.

Dan Neil not travelled with Sunderland. Wonder if there’s a chance he’s on his way here.

We did have some early links

Why are so you accepting of us having a net spend of £0 in this transfer window whilst everyone else around us are investing? I’m not asking for us to spend 75 million, it’s one player for a couple mill. Are you an idiot?

100% agreed. If we want to play him AM or out wide then I see a fit. If work rate is a problem atm at Sheff U, then he’s just not going to be in that role that Torp is currently in.

We played counter attacking football when Hamer was here and he’s absolutely got the attributes for that passing wise. Can he defend large areas of space in the middle of the park? I’m just not convinced.

This is all also ignoring the player's attitude, if he's suddenly prepared to knuckle down and match the professionalism that Lampard expects of his players then great, but if he continues with the casual attitude he's shown throughout his career it doesn't bode well.

The two biggest issues for Lampard to address for me are what to do with Rudoni, and then how to address these gulfs of space in midfield when we lose possession.

If it's just for half an hour, not ideal but a good start?

West Brom spent £2 million on Bristol’s back up goalkeeper. Interesting use of funds

Millwall tackling and picking up possession from loose play was outstanding.
Only their tiredness late on and BTA presence counted that which perhaps led to our eventual win.

A strong and athletic midfielder would solidify us emmensly and enable our forward options to get lots of wins.
Who that is, I have no idea but hopefully we get one.

Maybe he might. Doesn't have to be brilliant just very effective.

Someone said we need to cut out space in midfield. Swansea, Leicester and Millwall because of that could all have won. Somehow we won all three.
That can't continue, poor finishing and Rushworth brilliant keeping won't go on forever in home matches.

Millwall should not have won, they were dead on their feet well before we scored the winner.

We also made a tactical change and absolutely batter Leicester in thr 2nd half

We're not going to sign Hamer, if he had any interest things would have moved my now. He either wats a move to Europe or wait out his contract and go home for free.

Joe Edwards comment today are concerning.

Granted we will be keeping our cards close to our chest but he seemed to emphasise it’s unlikely we will bring anyone in. I think a lot of people are going to be disappointed come the end of the window

See earlier post about not taking any notice of the answer to this weekly question. 1) He didn't emphasise anything of the sort ,it was a text book non answer b) You got similar answers from FL before we signed 2 players in a week.
