I do wonder, if rumors are believed that we tried in the summer to get him, if hamer is the icing on the cake that never really materialised

Club owes him better than that given his current situation
Ok, keep Jamie Allen then to save hurting his feelings and ship out Torp. Im pretty sure Allen has a lot more to offer the PL than Torp could anyway!

Get real! Whilst his situation is a bit shitty at present, for how long do we go? Keep him on indefinitely? If thats the case, at some point in every players life somebody they know died, so do we just keep them all? We'll amass the biggest squad ever known in footballing history, all because Clive Platts cat died in 2001 so we cant get rid!

Allen has been a great servant for the club, and i genuinely like the bloke. I think hes been very underused at times and has been very underrated, but we really do need to move on to bigger and better things. At only 30 hes got another good 3 or 4 seasons in him. If he was 3 or 4 years older id suggest putting him through his badges and get him on the coaching team. Always been the highest professional when training according to Frank Lampard. Still one of the hardest trainers in the squad, even though he knows hes more likely than not starting on the bench again!

Bit of a c**t move though getting rid of a back up player who gives his all and going through personal problems just to sign an extra player we don't need

One that's been here for 7 seasons as well
c**t move keeping him here, just to drop even further down the pecking order when better players arrive. Professional 30yo footballer playing in the U21s indefinitely rather than first team football at a L1 club, just to save his feelings?

Yeah bit of an odd thing to say - unless it was Allen himself posting

I don’t believe we will sign Gus, not sure that Sheffield United would sell him to us in truth and he would command a salary increase likely beyond what Doug is probably willing to pay.

That being said if we did manage to pull it off, it’s just what we need to kick us on and I couldn’t see us not getting promoted with Hamer pulling the strings in midfield.

I think on the Hamer issue we’re skirting the main point. He’ll want a sack of cash each month that we can’t give him.
I’m sure an agreeable deal could be structured in a way that doesn’t destroy our championship pay structure but gives a significant premier style increase after we have been promoted in a few months.

…or even a special bonus for each pound he looses over the next month. There would seem the opportunity for quite a payout for him 😀

To be honest I’m not 100% on bringing old heroes back, I much prefer to look forward than backwards.

Hamer shouldn't happen, the maximum he could do is help us get to the premier, then he is not good enough, so what's the point?

Allen, on the other hand, is a must in the dressing room. FL is a decent chap, not reflecting on his position or wealth, he is a guy I could have a drink with. Ryton training ground is the place of work and like all of us we want good colleagues. FL said that bringing in Esse and Minny was so that we have 22 players who can compete in training. Bidwell and Allen, and possibly Wilson are good professionals, good humans, (Bidwell is the reason we got Grimes) and friends for FL. He is not alone, he needs buddies and I know he has affection for Allen and Bidwell. When FL talks about this project he talks about 'being one of the best' and that's nothing to do with football, it's about the dynamics of the training ground and the personnel.

I am person who is always grateful and I am extremely grateful to this squad for giving us such enjoyment. I am grateful to all, not one or two. Everyone has an off day and they deserve it sometimes, but that doesn't make them bad people. As my Nan always said, be grateful for what you have, not for what you don't.

On the Hamer point. As I agree on your points for Bidwell and Allen.

He’s had one season in the premiership with an awful United side and I think when you take that into consideration he did very well.

Depends on him but if he got fit, I think he could be a starter or around the team in the prem.

Hamer is six months younger than Frank the Tank and actually held down a place in a PL team and performed well.
Onyenka would have likely been a starter in that SU team to be fair to him.

Why are you windmilling so early in the morning? Like a Bedworth Donald Trump.

I talking about now, NOT the premier. If we re-signed Gus it needs to be an investment and is not a good one. NOW we have Allen and Bidwell and they are helping us to try and get to the premier, so we should not get rid of them. Of course they know that maybe the premier is too much for them but then if they stayed possibly they could both be part of FL training team, could Gus?

Yeh because getting in that SU team was a real challenge. Come on man you're just windmilling these last few days.

He could play a part in the Prem if he got himself fit, at least on a squad level, similar to Onyeka. Maybe Doug will finally loosen his arse and sign both?

On Allen's future, if the opportunity came that would give him more playing time, and possibly bring him back nearer his family back in the north west, he may want to make the move.

Also with Bidwell, it may have changed but he was living in a flat in Solihull while his family stayed in south Wales. He was only getting home to them a few nights a week. A move may suit him as well.

If squad spaces allow, and they're happy to stay, I'd like to keep both of them as cover. But if offers come in for them they should be given the option to move on.

Gus is infinitely better than both Bidwell and Allen.

One can dream.

At the moment I'd be happy with just 1.

Both different profiles so i'm not really sure what we're after. Saddle could just be talking bollocks of course! A lot of noise around Onyeka but i feel like those ones almost never happen, will probably be someone we've not even mentioned.

Says the guy posting kebab memes two full years after he left lol

Fact is he’s performed at that level and Onyeka hasn’t. I know you’ve set your stall out but I don’t see how you can claim to be sure Hamer can’t step up but Onyeka can.

I'm not a prolific kebab memer at all, i just don't simp over ex-players who in the prime of their career have actually ended up lower than the club.

I've also not said Hamer can't step up, i've literally said above i think he'd be a useful option if he was fit. There is clearly something keeping Prem teams away from him but for a club like ours i'm sure he'd be a reasonable option.

Anyway it's not just on this, you just seem to be balls deep in the trenches on the negative side of almost every forum argument atm. You know i have nothing against you on a personal level but your mindset just seems incredibly negative right now.
