Can't help thinking it's a bit irrelevant. Imagine it's the Hundred teams with IPL ownership that are going to thrive financially as they've got access to big name Indian players - who in turn will bring in supporters from the indian community in decent numbers.
Think Warwickshire have fucked up partnering with the Birmingham City owners rather than an IPL franchise. As much as I'm against handing the domestic game to the IPL franchise owners I'm not sure a bunch of yanks is the better option.

Surely with the demographic make up of Birmingham something like Birmingham Super Kings would have got people through the door.

I’m not sure they are that bothered about cricket anymore, property development and a test ground is what matters. They haven’t made much effort to bring the needed players in.

summary. They live in a self-indulgent bubble (deaf to criticism/advice - constructive or other forms) where there's little accountability for performances on or off the field.
Spot on then

Imagine what him and Broad would've done to that Aussie line-up. We certainly wouldn't be sat here after a 4-1 defeat thats for certain.

General consensus around the Hundred has been that the branding is terrible. From team names, to team colours & logos is looks like something knocked up quickly for a GCSE art project.

With the teams now being sold off many clubs are embracing the opportunity to rebrand, some going all out and ditching everything, others more subtle.

So we come to Birmingham, the horribly named Phoenix. As far as I can tell neither the name, logo or colours have any relation to the city, they seemed to be more based around the fact they matched the colours of the sponsor. So lots of room for improvement with a rebrand.

struggling to contain my excitement at this radical rebrand.
So Northern Superchargers become Sunrisers Leeds and will play in orange just like Birmingham. Another well though through plan.

Moeen Ali to Yorkshire I imagine on t20 contract that has been a disaster for Warwickshire mainly due to his lack of commitment.

James Rew has signed a one year extension at Somerset so can talk to Surrey on June 1st or any other counties.

Seems like this white ball team is based on the principle of "no point having bowlers just hope the batsmen can score enough runs".

I'd have expected us to use it as prep for the T20 World Cup.... instead we've gone withthe same top 5 as the test side.

No doubt in the summer we'll be saying they're burnt out

tbh I'd forgotten this was even happening today which says a lot about how things are going with cricket recently.

In other news seems Bangladesh are officially out of the world cup as they won't play in India. Seems its fine for India to not play in Pakistan and refuse to have Pakistan play in India with zero punishment but Bangladesh are thrown out. Think if they go to the next team in the rankings that means Scotland are in.

And there's your captain right there!

Root gone, now the inevitable batting collapse started quickly by Brooks

At least he's leading by example

And for 30 overs the bowling attack offered nothing! Brook, Crawley and now Bethell all thrown away wickets far too easily! You dont mind going out to fantastic bowling, but all 3 wickets were avoidable and needless!

A very get-able total and they've made an absolute mess of it yet again.

Same old, same old. Throwing wickets away when a bit of steady play would have seen them to victory.

Not sure what to say about this one.
Lost 3/4/5 consecutive away 50 series.
But turn up a few days before this one starts knowing it's going to be about spin but not getting any proper practice. Up against proper spinners which the batsmen aren't used to, bowling part-time spinners against batsmen who are used to proper spin. Can't think of any match/format where having Overton & Curran as your only quick options is a good thing.
Despite of all of this batsmen still contrived to throw away a winning position
These white ball series now just seem like they are all a bit trivial - quick 3 games here, quick 3 games there.

And the next generation of players coming through are unlikely to have played much, if any one day cricket. Which isn't great when we seem to have a problem not pacing the games as if they're a T20.

First sign of them being half decent and they'll be out of the Metro one days and in a 100 squad.

Be nice to have the Sunday league back but I like the metro bank cup but obviously it takes away from their beloved hundred.

I am amazed in the rush time that we still have 50 over cricket and it hasn’t been replaced by 40 overs.

Amazing that Sunday League got changed to midweek so it didn't interfere with county championship games. How times have changed.

This feels like something that can't possibly be true but is also entirely plausible at the same time

True but due to Adil's large number of not outs. But Crawley only has 12 centuries against Adil's 10.
What stats do show is that Crawley statistically an average first class cricketer.

Just heard David Gower mention that he went on one of Derrick Robins cricket tours to Sri Lanka in 1977.

It's the first time that I have heard the late, great Robins mentioned in a very long time. The man, along with his appointee Jimmy Hill, responsible for turning the club's fortunes around and making us what we are today.
