I think a fit Hamer would actually be the perfect signing for us, can play any of the 3 positions in our midfield. And less risk than someone new to the club.

My thoughts exactly. He has a broad enough skill set to do pretty much anything you’d want in the middle of the pitch.

Harrison Reed - is my educated guess at who we were after, Fulham haven't got anyone in & he’s played his part & performed in past month or so.
He is one we are trying for now and have been for a couple of weeks, alongside Onyeka and Hamer

But yea considering its not happening now, the name I was told was Eric Martel, midfielder from Cologne. Out of contract in the summer and we were keen on a deal in which his wage would massively increase upon/if promotion (few of our players have that clause btw)

Evidently hes been incredible for Cologne this season and much bigger fish are now in the pond so Cologne have basically said you can go but Coventry arent offering the money we can get for you

Im sure there are some Bundesliga boffs on here but his stats seem alright

What I'm taking from this is that there's a slight possibility that we can have an exciting end to the transfer window.

Interesting to be in for Bundesliga players in the first place tbf. His numbers have been pretty good this season so not a surprise if bigger sides than us are interested.

This lad is very decent, flicks between defensive midfielder & center back, very capable & high ceiling. Can see why we’ve not got him tbh, punching above our weight imo, will end up at better German team or team in top 3-4 leagues.

Martel looks to be more of a defensive midfielder (from just a very quick look), so very different type of player to Hamer.

If so, suggests we aren't looking for a particular type of midfielder, but just general quality.

I know the point you are making but signings the championships player of the season last year is unlikely to be rebuffed by any manager.
He's badly out of shape for a start. Would be great for PR and 'merch' sales though so I get why King would be in for it.

Onyeka is probably closest to what we need and more suited to the league above if we get there.

Its a possibility yes. Doug would see it as a massive coup and wants it

Id say slim though. Let's be honest if he really wanted to come back, he would, and it doesnt exactly seem like hes pushing for it
Doug wants the money on the 38 numbered kits. Hamer wants to spend more time at the Samoa Joes.

Win, Win

Only happens if Deadpool gets bored, don't see that happening.
I think it might’ve gone beyond that now as I believe Deadpool (and the other matey) may have attracted a billionaire investor to join the party.
I think they’re here to stay for the foreseeable.
Genuinely good for the town (city?) of Wrexham.
Yet Another example of money being all that matters in football. Great.*

*heres hoping we get the same.

Edit: sorry have now seen others have said this already.

Accept his body shape isn't the best, but not sure he is badly out of shape.

Hamer had a good season in the premier league and is one of the best players at this level (POTS last year). There would definitely be more of an expectation for him to improve his fitness/ body shape here, but I don't think that's beyond him. It's not like he needs to lose 5 stone.

Gus can play 6, 8 or 10 imo and as we've seen with Lampard so far, he often will have a different role for a player than what the player assumes is his best position - eg. Eccles not being a 6.

feel like this could result in a huge portsmouth type collapse at some point in the future
If you are paying that sort of money, the player has to be absolutely exceptional with a massive sell on potential. Think Ipswich paid £17.5 million for a dud.
I know Esse is younger and has much more potential but £12 to £14 million mentioned compared to EMC £5 million looks a bargain.
Southampton appear to have blown it with loads of £7 million players.
Recruitment where ever we end up, as usual, will be crucial.
