I remember Sheff Utd last year signed players from AI data but couldn’t recall seeing any of them in their squads each week so I just googled them…

Christian Nwachukwu: A winger signed from Bulgarian side Botev Plovdiv in February 2025. 0 games played so far

Jefferson Cáceres: A striker/winger who arrived from FBC Melgar in Peru, also signed in February 2025. Played 0 games and sold to Dunfermline Athletic.

Ehije Ukaki: A winger signed from Botev Plovdiv in the summer of 2025. Played 0 games.

Mihail Polendakov: A teenage right-back signed from Septemvri Sofia in Bulgaria in June 2025. Played 0 games

If an organisation was asking an LLM in 2024 for signings that’s very much no one’s fault but that organisation. Not sure that’s what it was tho.

I haven't said otherwise, it still doesn't mean that politicians haven't been had over by the potential capability of AI

If we get AI the potential is huge. We do not have AI yet but we’re getting a lot closer than I thought we would. But yes politicians have once again been suckered by Silicon Valley hype men who have been suckering politicians since Gates was hawking Windows.

But isn't the potential problem that AI only truly becomes useful when we don't have to check it? In effect it becomes sentient. At which point we're no longer necessary.

If AI ever became sentient in that manner, I think the only possible sensible conclusion it could come to is that there needs to be a reduction in humans. It's what we've done with species that become overpopulated and are causing huge changes to the environment and ecosystem.

If you wrote down all the things we're causing but changed it from humans to rats, or deer, or beavers etc. you know full well the course of action would be to have a cull, but we obviously don't do that because it's our own species. AI would have no such qualms.

Isn't this what's happening now,let alone the competition with us for power water ect, the globe is going to end up like a circuit board, plug in a capacitor here,a resistor there.

Surely there is a lesson to be learned here.

I mean you have been banging the “kill all the humans” drum for a while so I’m going to say maybe we just don’t let you have the AI

I don't want the AI.

I'm just pointing out that if you were to look at it entirely unemotionally and independent of any bias towards any particular species, as you would expect technology to do, then its conclusion would be 'Too many humans'.

I also assume it wouldn't kill us all off as, like every species, we do have a function within our environment and ecosystem. We just need to manage those impacts. If not nature will, eventually, manage it itself in a very similar fashion.

No that’s your conclusion. Maybe I assume AI will agree with me and we all Star Trek off into the stars? We don’t know, that is why it’s called the singularity.

If you’re asking us to stop researching maths you’re gonna be disappointed like every other person who wished technological progress wasn’t a thing.

AI is great for data analytics but you still need to give it the correct information to begin with.

Probably down to not ranking leagues correctly to gauge quality or something along them lines

Nothing wrong with using AI as a tool to scout players but sheff utd is a case of it clearly not being done right

Any club with sense will actively be exploring the possibilities of using AI though

Signing a player needs a lot more subjectivity than AI will ever be capable of. It's probably useful for identifying a pool of players based on objective facts but the rest of it will always really need human intervention.

You would realistically need an artificial scout capable of assessing video footage alongside underlying data.

Agreed. Like I said nothing wrong with using it as a tool. Relying on it would be naive though

I said the same about data driven recruitment.
Cra,y not to use it, but crazy to rely on it solely.

Bet there is already a Ransonsque start up flogging an AI engine driven player scouting tool around the sport .

Blues looking to sign August Priske ahead of Lille and Besiktas.

Now that would be a statement signing.

Fantastic player. Saw him in person and he was brilliant.

Would have been a great option for us.

Yeah really good player and a lot of top clubs across Europe were supposed to be interested.

I really think this is our chance to go up this year as the likes of Blues and Wrexham are going to be too strong next year. They will keep chucking cash at players until they have unbelievable Championship teams.

if we didn't already have three strikers on track for 12-15 league goals each. Simms is scoring while Haji is off it. Asante back soon. Expecting someone to come from that league and bang in a load of goals in the fifteen(ish) games they'd be here for is a bit naive, no?

Wrexham have a good chance of getting into the play-offs this season, IMO.

His ceiling is a lot higher than any of the 3 strikers we have, and would be an option in the prem.

Yes to be honest I have said all along we should be in for him. He has Premier League potential.
