Interestingly, Esse has played 3 games in a AM/10 roles for Palace in the PL2 this season - scoring 2 and assisting 2 in the process. He also played there in the Caraboa Cup and EFL Trophy. I guess that indicates where Palace see him playing in the future.

Even better he can play against Stoke right?

Yeah Palace fans have got an even lower opinion of JRS lol.

I think he’s good and needs an arm around him. I think we’re a good fit. But he was yet to really have a breakout season as a pro before he went.

Ultimately we aren’t a PL team so don’t need PL players yet. Sounds like a decent championship winger which is exactly what we need.
Jrs?

Unlikely I would have thought.
Likewise, though with them signing Johnson and Glasner not fancying him… thought there may be a glimmer of hope.

As things stand, Palace do not seem to rate him an he’s been there a year now.

I hear you, but if he tears it up in the Champ for the second half of the season then I’m sure they would prefer to have the final say on what to do with him after the fact. If we like him and get promoted though…

Doug will of sounded them out and probably knows what fee would be requested in promotion was gained. He knows the Rushworth cost as well.

Good signing and gives him a time at Ryton to get to know his surroundings.

It's more likely to have been Dean Austin and his team communicating with an agent and then they pass the information to Doug King.

Final stages of a transfer is when DK gets involved because he sanctions the spend.

I read that Glasner is likely to leave them at the end of the season. So there could be a chance of a fresh start for Esse there.

Does anyone know if there is any option/obligation to buy with this loan?

Mood on the Palace board was very much if someone offers them their money back they’d snap their hand off.

Everyone's for sale. We go up and the world's our lobster as the saying goes. I'm excited about this kid. Let's hope FL gets him playing for him

Interesting reading Glasner's comments on him. It appears that Palace want to use him as a 10 but he's not quite at the level of Eze as yet. It sounds like he expects him to be used wide here but it's also good to know that he potentially could play as a 10.

Glasner alludes to the fact his natural position is on the wing so they’ve been trying to pigeon hole him as a 10. But hopefully he gets back to his levels in his natural position with us.

I don't think it's a major criticism of Esse that he can't fulfil a role previously undertaken by one of the best young English players about TBH

He’s a top player in the Championship and he will be able to operate as a 10 a bit more easier than in the Prem if Lampard needs him in that position.
