To be fair to you, the big question for Venezuela is ‘what next?’

You’d hope free and fair elections take place but there’s a real risk that it also descends into anarchy - like Iraq and Libya did.
Nothing says "free and fair elections" like the US flying in to kidnap the president in a military helicopter at 1am

Interesting and terrifying theory. I think it’s clear the over arching plan of the republicans currently is they see themselves and China as two superpowers headed toward inevitable conflict.

Probably not, they’ve just captured Maduro. I’m sure everyone will rejoice at the deposition of a dictator.

Sure. Is Trump going after Putin then, or Xi in China, or Kim in North Korea?

All of those are far more repressive regimes, when's Trump going after them?

Let's not pretend this is about taking on dictators eh, only a gormless, bootlicking, nonce fanboy, would fall for that arrant nonsense. Try harder.

I’m not upset, but I’m staggered at the mental gymnastics you perform to defend anything this man does.

He's just another hypocrite mate.

The sort of kid who used to stand in the playground cheering the bully on, because he was punching someone who wasn't him.

I was being slightly sarcastic in the first instance but in any case, there will be no tears shed for Maduro over here.

Maduro’s second presidency was only legitimate in the eyes of; China, Russia, Belarus, Palestine, North Korea, Cuba, Syria and Turkey.

The EU, Britain, Australia and the US all sanctioned the regime and denounced it as illegitimate.

China has been stepping up its military drilling in and around Taiwan. All the war games pretty much conclude the USA would lose in a war over Taiwan so there’s a wider chess game going on here.

You do realise that launching coups against the leaders you dislike undermines any claim you have to make against your rivals doing the same?

Nothing exposes the paucity of your argument, @Mucca Mad Boys , than the gurning, dribbling, inanity, of a laughing emoji to a genuine question.

Typical chicken shit Trump fanboy, can't make an actual defence of his argument, so hides behind emojis.

Like the orange shit gibbon himself, a rambling dimwit who thinks he's the smartest man in the world.

To answer your question, no because it’d trigger a nuclear war. It’s a stupid question because you know that to be true.

The Trump admin is threatening to intervene in Iran again so there is a common theme there.

All these interventions in Iran have done is make them even more determined to build a nuclear weapon so they’ll be left alone.

Are you seriously, for one minute, pretending that this is about deposing dictators?

Have seen what’s going on in Iran? They’re shooting at protesters. It’s a possibility that it’s the beginning of the end for that regime too which, like Maduro, is a long time coming.

Anyway, back to Venezuela, anyone who’s actually looked into Maduro’s regime won’t shed a tear at today’s news.

Judging by the response by yourself, SBT, Duffer and so on… either you’re partisan to Maduro because he is a “socialist” (in name only) or partisan against Trump.

Off the bat, the intervention is only a worthwhile enterprise if there’s a succession plan in place for an interim government to organise new elections.

Will these mean that the person who defeated him in his quest for the Nobel Peace Prize will stand for President?

Have you seen what’s going on in the US? The president literally interfered in an election he lost and incited riots to prevent the transfer of power.

I suspect that there won't be many Venezuelans shedding tears.
Or at least those that remain who haven't already fled or been executed without trial.

It has absolutely nothing to do with intervention of a dictatorial regime and you know it.

Other countries without democracy that Trump could focus on if he's a bit scared of Putin. Qatar, Saudi Arabia. No?

Turkmenistan, Eritrea, Afghanistan?

There's a long list that anyone can Google for themselves if they're labouring under the assumption that this is somehow about Trump supporting democracy or human rights.

Weakest argument ever, especially given his record in his own country.
