You might be right on that although there must be some data somewhere. Although i don't agree on centre forwards no being asked, they are usually pretty tall and should be good at heading. It's the absolute short arses you'd want to leave up if anything, traditionally the pacy wingers.
The issue with these bring everyone back systems is you pack the box and it’s usually zonal marking. So you’re asking each player to carry out a niche tactical instruction in a crowded box with players jostling around, making runs etc.

You see loads of teams fucking up at this, not just us. Charlton crammed their own 6 yard box and Simms scored a goal there anyway. Players like him being told to man mark the opposition’s tallest player in a less crowded box I can see the reasoning behind. Asking him to ‘control’ section 5 subsection 3 of the penalty area is a waste of resources and if anything counterproductive.

As I'm sure some of you are aware. We have never beaten Preston in the League at Deepdale.

We have actually only ever won twice in all competitions.

The first time we played at Deepdale in 1910 won 2-1 in the FA cup and in 2000 a 3-1 win in the League cup.
Is that a pep talk? 🤪

Exactly. Which makes it perfectly legitimate to put tongue in cheek and indulge ones fantasies - see The Invincibles thread.

We need to stop conceding our 2 goals a game ratio from last year.I said before the Ipswich game we looked suspect from the ball over the top and exactly how they scored there second goal Kitchin and Thomas are so slow and don't switch on and it's not for the first time. The full backs are that far up the pitch there is no cover. We have to find a way of keeping clean sheets away from home.It will be interesting to see how we react tonight.
Kitchen and Thomas were both guilty of pushing up beyond the half way line and one not actually marking Hurst! Simple to solve really

It's not just me who absolutely hates this particular game? We need a response tonight. If this team really does want to break records, our record at Deepdale would be a good one to break!

I was there in 2000. League cup 2nd round - 1st leg!

We played poorly - but had too much quality for them. I reckon there was only about 250 of us there that night. It was quite hard getting songs going!

Same again tonight please (3-1 away win).

It's a must not lose we are the better team just need to play well and take our chances unlike Saturday where we could of been two up (kkh header,Eccles shot).

I wish we would stop having 11 men in the box for a corner at least leave one up there like Da Silva as an outlet.
Da Silva that player notorious for pace, attacking players and final ball being our outlet on a fast counter. Like it.

can't even see it on twitter? is it a rumour because he was cramping up at the end on Sat? Be shocked if that wasn't in the "Rudoni has done his shoulder again" category.

I think if Grimes is out we will struggle, he’s that vital to how we play

Mate in Australia said we win 3-0

Torp, Thomas and Simms

No bottles thrown by away end as well which is a real positive.
