Preston are a big and physical team that thrives off set plays. Have to limit giving away corners and free-kicks.

expecting A response on Tuesday, as daft as it sounds yesterday just gives us that reminder that if we’re not at it for 90mins then that’s what happens, even with a few missing we should have got something, too many players not at it, lesson learned, go again

Need to stop conceding goals. Back to conceding two each game since Stoke. Not gonna get promoted if that trend continues. Have to sort that out ASAP.
Can’t do much about being countered chasing a game but conceded really poor goals from set pieces way too often. That should be an easier fix than the open play goals.

If fit, Torp starts. Your best players should always start. He is a goal threat and dare i say a better option than Eccles. I like Eccles recent improvement even though he faded badly at Ipswich, but Torp is the better player easily.
Simms had no service at Ipswich so gets to go again. I could be tempted to rest EMC and put Wright out left - his best position for us.
Rudoni must start. Saka back in of course. Can't see FL benching too many for lack of match fitness. Play them together and we win easily.

If he is fit / well enough why would he not start Torp?

Based on his performance yesterday I’m not sure I would start Rudi. Maybe if he’s looking sharp in training. Otherwise I’d be happy for Eccles to stand in again and give Rudi 30 mins or more.
I agree. I’d go with
Rushworth
MVE Thomas Kitching Dasilva
Torp Grimes
Saka Eccles Wright
Simms

EMC starts out left ahead of Wright imo.
Great cross for KKH should of been 0-1 & a good shot pushed over by in-form keeper who also made superb Eccles save. We could so easily of scored three in that first half.

Wright better off from bench.
Needs more minutes.

In real time , I don't watch again when we lose, I thought Simms was largely to blame for Ipswich first goal. Had ample opportunity to clear ball before the attack reached our penalty box.

But he didn't commit to the task.
I agree but I’m also generally not a fan of asking centre forwards to carry out technical defensive work.

If Torp and Sakamoto are back then I think we'll win.

Rudoni will presumably start on the bench if even just one of those is back.

I also thought Simms and EMC were looking very leggy towards the end on Saturday, they could do with a breather at some point.

It is no coincidence that we all feel we need a winger and AM in the transfer window for this very purpose

Current slide into old habits?? We've lost two games all season! One to a parachute side when we played with a depleted team...
He's talking about gifting sloppy goals which we had a habit of for 2 or 3 seasons. It catches up with you in the end.
Although Rushy has helped mask some of that with some great recovery saves.

Yep. Lampard had talked in recent weeks about needing to manage the minutes of the wide players to keep them fresh, then we go and lose Saka and BTA.

Still find it a little odd we let Raphael go. I'm sure he's not up to the standard we need, but given how light we are in those positions it probably would have made sense to keep him around just in case, particularly for moments like this where he could come on for EMC for 5 or 10 mins. Better option than having two keepers and two left backs on the bench at least.

Oh well, nearly in Jan, hopefully we can get Manneh in through the door early.

Even then, Manneh’s season ended a month ago so it’ll still have been a few months since his last competitive game by the time he gets here.

I guess the feeling was with Brau and KKH we had better options.

What killed us in both of the last two seasons was conceding too many goals. It's the same players now except Rushworth, so Yeah, it's old habits. It's not a hot take to say that conceding goals at the rate we are rn could kill our chances of being promoted.

The same players managed a lot of clean sheets earlier in the season to be fair.
