In which case that would be a lot of money to spend on a position where we’re already well covered.I expect whoever we sign in January it's with that in mind.
I know, I'm not sure where I've said we can't? If we got promoted we'd need loads of new players. We also have a handful of players that could and indeed might have to, step up.And it’s OK to be rational about players abilities and not just claim every player we have is the greatest ever. Our team can always get better and that’s no shade on those already in it.
A loan with obligation to buy if promoted perhaps. In which case that would be a lot of money to spend on a position where we’re already well covered.
Le Fee is at Sunderland, ain’t got a clue about Leeds and Burnley thoughI think it’s really hard to get PL quality at this point TBH. Out of interest how many of last seasons promotion January signings are starting regularly?
Then who drops out at CM? Torp presumably? I just don’t see the point.A loan with obligation to buy if promoted perhaps.
This would be an actual good signing. Not sending a life raft to O'Hare in Bluntsville.Anis Mehmeti would be a cracking signing
Also would be cheaperThis would be an actual good signing. Not sending a life raft to O'Hare in Bluntsville.
Ipswich went down the road of buying all the best Championship players. Clearly, not a template to follow. They went for quantity over quality.Completely overhauling a team that got promotion seems to be working for Sunderland as it did for Forest before them, but as I mentioned previously both needed to do so having only been promoted via the play offs, and so had a weaker starting position than those promoted automatically.
It doesn't always work though. Ipswich previously had a similar team ethic that we seem to have this season and spent big in the PL, but having then been relegated and despite having a very strong squad on paper, are struggling to find that togetherness they previously had.
It's less about pushing players out of the side and more not having to pray we don't get an injury. Then who drops out at CM? Torp presumably? I just don’t see the point.
You’d have competition for places which is a good thing. The drop off from Torp to Allen and Andrews is sizeable for example. Then who drops out at CM? Torp presumably? I just don’t see the point.
We have loads of capable CMs in case we get an injury (and we’ve already had many). It's less about pushing players out of the side and more not having to pray we don't get an injury.
I don’t think we lost control yesterday.Exactly this it’s a long season and a squad game. You want to be able to take players off and not lose control like we did yesterday. And have everyone fresh for the run in. Plus frankly not throw every cup game.
I don’t think we lost control yesterday.
I’d love Mehmeti, we’re not known to be in for him though are we?This would be an actual good signing. Not sending a life raft to O'Hare in Bluntsville.
You didn’t need to take Torp and Eccles off imoI think we did once all our subs were on. Especially in midfield.
In cases where we have three games in a week, being able to play someone nearer to Torp's ability as opposed to Jamie Allen's would be a clear advantage. The games where it's been just Grimes and Allen in the middle have been real hard work because it's just not Allen's game and especially not from the start. We have loads of capable CMs in case we get an injury (and we’ve already had many).
If we get in a PL-calibre CM even on loan then they will expect to play every week - we’re not dropping Grimes, so does Torp get benched? I just don’t see it.
You didn’t need to take Torp and Eccles off imo
I don't think so. Their last chance to get a bit of cash for him though.I’d love Mehmeti, we’re not known to be in for him though are we?
3 assists yesterday
Sheff U player of the year in the PL. Voted best player in the Championship last season. Destroyed us in both games last season. This year has been disrupted by bad management and injury. If you think Hamer has had a better season than Torp it might be time to put the stats sheet down. Torp is a monster player for us under Lampard. Hamer on the other hand, even Blunts fans would tell you he's been poor.
Jimmy said yesterday we’re after a championship winger, someone suggested him as his contract is up in the summer.I’d love Mehmeti, we’re not known to be in for him though are we?

Not Torp Share the load with Grimes. Then who drops out at CM? Torp presumably? I just don’t see the point.
He’d be a mint signingJimmy said yesterday we’re after a championship winger, someone suggested him as his contract is up in the summer.
I cba to argue about Hamer anymore. I liked him when he was here but he's gone. He moved to a set of wankers, he's in the pomp of his career and he's at the bottom of the Championship, his career highlight was playing in one of the worst Prem sides ever and he seemingly is of little interest to teams higher up the ladder.Sheff U player of the year in the PL. Voted best player in the Championship last season. Destroyed us in both games last season. This year has been disrupted by bad management and injury.
Allen has started three games this season. We simply don’t have the need for an expensive replacement who’s only really adding value that infrequently. In cases where we have three games in a week, being able to play someone nearer to Torp's ability as opposed to Jamie Allen's would be a clear advantage. The games where it's been just Grimes and Allen in the middle have been real hard work because it's just not Allen's game and especially not from the start.
Likewise I wouldn't be signing a winger with a view to dropping Sakamoto or EMC.
Fatawu from Lesta...Jimmy said yesterday we’re after a championship winger, someone suggested him as his contract is up in the summer.
