His lack of pace is a real worry but can remember quite a few occasions where he has come in and done a very good job.

People saying he’s an average championship player at best need to remind themselves what league we are in and also be thankful we have good backup.

I saw this on twitter a couple of days back about Lati. Didn't realise he captained an England u17 team to a World Cup win back in 2017. Played alongside Marc Guehi at centre back...

Just don’t think he’s actually versatile. He’s someone who needs to find a club who play 3 CBs regularly. Bidwell’s been ropey for a while now as LB but I’d have him over Lati in a back 3. Tougher, more mobile, better in the air.

Kitching's a game off suspension after collecting unnecessary yellows, for example. We'll need Lati at some stage but he's been injured and can't be match sharp even if he's on the bench.

I'm not so sure. If everyone's fit, I don't see how he gets on the bench, unless we are playing 3 at the back, then will need a back up CB.

1. GK - Wilson
2. Right back - KKH
3. CB - Wolfie
4. LB - Bidwell / Breu
5. CM - Eccles / Andrews
6. CM - Allen
7. ST - Simms
8. ST - BTA / EMC / Sakamoto - depending on who drops out for Rudoni.

Thought this was your attempt at the classic Mark Robins, either the game before or the game after the transfer window shut, when he'd name either 6 or 8 subs or 2 keepers on the bench to make a point

Surely give him a chance, everyone’s improved under lampard, we said da silva wasn’t good enough ?
He has no place in the team. At best he’s 4th choice CB. Now, we’re always gonna need a 4th choice but I’d be surprised if he’s happy with that role.

think We’ve learned enough this season about writing players off, he’ll be ok if we need him

Might be a coincidence but makes the squad now were a CB down…

Duh, don't people pay attention?
Lati has been injured all season.
He came back on the bench for one game then went to Jamaica. His injury flared up, he did not play and was injured when he came back.
Just returned and played one U21 game. Will need to get up to speed.
Still relatively young and an international. We need him back as he can play in several positions.

What’s gone on here? Posting pictures of himself out on the training pitch away with Jamaica. I get he’s 4th in the pecking order now but he hasn’t been seen in any of the social media stuff and hasn’t looked close to getting on the pitch. Imagine he’ll be off in January.

I'm sure if he was fit earlier in the season he'd have played in the cup games, but yeah 4th choice CBs rarely get much of a look in.

To be fair he is better than fourth choice (just not for us) so probably worth moving on so he can get some first team football, unless he's happy to sit on the bench.

We'll need Lati before the season is through.
Brilliant pedigree and still fairly young. Also very aggressive which is an asset.
Another player written off. Hey lets make a small squad even smaller. People never learn.
Why would off loading Lats make our squad smaller? We cant sell him till January, and unless im mistaken we could buy someone else, so 1 out and 1 in leaves the squad numbers the same doesn't it?
Or have I got my maths wrong?

He doesn’t seem the type that’s happy to not be involved, I think he’ll be gone in Jan, does leave us a bit light in defence especially if we are going to use a back 3 semi regularly.

You are making a rather big assumption that you can sell a player who is working his way back to fitness and we can sign someone who is better. Need a big fee and big wages to get a championship ready player who is versatile. Also new players often take a good while to settle (see Torp and Woolfie).
Lati has played a lot of minutes before this season and was part of our previous success. Rarely let us down.
January is notoriously difficult to secure the players you want, as prices are often inflated and loans are often already done for a year.
We have done really well in January recently, but that does not mean we will get who we want. Even in the Summer we missed targets with much longer to plan.

When he comes back, great. More options, the better but I don't think he would have stepped on to the pitch so far this season anyway.

No chance we’re moving him on in Jan, maybe in summer if we go up. Not unless we do sign someone like Hughes and one of the current two goes to backup
I would like to keep him but I think he will want to leave. I’m sure @Jimmy87 has said he wanted to leave in the summer due to lack of game time. He doesn’t really seem to be part of the group at the moment.

Yeah but he’s under contract and let’s be honest will probably get a better move if we go up in the summer.

Im confused by your response, you appear to be saying we are stuck with him, even if we want to off load him.

I'd suggest that even if fit, hes not going to get any game time, when hes been played before, he has covered at RB, and DMF as well as CH. We now have plenty of cover at RB and DMF, so that only leaves him as 4th choice CH now, and seeing as hes not going to be challenging our preferred 2 CH's and Woolfenden is next in line (and a Lampard signing) where does he fit in?

I'd suggest its better for both parties if he moves on ASAP. That way he gets game time, and we get to use the vacant squad place to bring in a player capable of making the step up to the PL.
Yes that costs money, but we are at that stage now to justify the investment.

Very few clubs can afford a squad full of starters and if they do they have to find a way of keeping them all motivated and match ready..Who would you replace Lati with? Someone who is cheap enough and happy to be fourth choice? So why bother?
