12 million is the rumour for a defender have we gone mad.How are we likely to pay for this selling MVE maybe. But if he doesn't move where is the money coming from.
Who cares, the owner clearly thinks its financially viable. Who are we to watch his pockets?

But again, i'm not trying to argue, 'two 6 mils' means absolutely nothing. It’s just placing a number on something. The club have identified their target and are going for it, good for them. If another club in the league made this signing everyone would be like fair play for the ambition, when its us everyone gets scared that we might finally spend a few quid.
Don’t worry about the back and forth bud. Happy to have the civilised debate!

I would think that surely the club could look at their budget, set their thoughts out and with Austin look to scout players who haven’t played at championship level, but could be developed and improve our depth. Surely it’s possible to say this is what we have, who would be the best two players we could find at that range and have further potential?

Bit of an unknown for a lot of us though :ROFLMAO: Its like winning the lottery and still thinking you still need to shop at Farm Foods.

Indeed, i'm sure there are good players out there in that price range, we've found many... heck there's probably someone out there for £1 million if your scouting is bob on, but i like we have a target we are going right after. We want to get promoted now so we're going for it and i respect it.

Kitching is fairly shit by defensive metrics in champ so I think he has to be upgraded.

Yeah with the two of them it’s do you lose Kitchings passing or Thomas’ goals. Personally I think that’s a no brainer. Thomas is so unique in being a threat in the air I just can’t see him being the one to make way.

I think Lampard likes both more than critics of either would have you think but i agree i think he prefers Thomas. You are also right in that Thomas is a huge goal threat, more so than certain strikers in fact, so i think its a weapon he'd want to keep in the team.

Yeah we can afford to shop at Iceland. 🤭

Though more seriously whatever deal the club is negotiating I don't think it is going to be above the market rate.

Because of the underlying reason for the embargo which is cash flow
This is the bit I don't get - whoever places the club under an embargo is because of poor financial management. It shouldn't be a case of if they want to sell or not, they should be having to evidence better financial cash flow - which would be sales of key assets. Key assets which you'd argue they wouldn't have if they weren't dicking about with unfair financial management.

Hughes would give us flexibility in our backline. He’s clearly an upgrade on both of them, so can see them being rotated around him or for example Thomas coming on when we need a goal

People made their minds up on Kitching the day we signed him. Pointless arguing with these people
He's a good defender, and his passing through the lines and carrying of the ball been crucial and paid dividends already this year.

I've said previously, it wouldn't surprise me to see a back 3 played at times if we signed Hughes

How does it work if we offer Hull players in a swap? Are they able to do that. I know they can only sign loans and free’s
It may be the case that we would have to pay off the players and make them free agents. This would include end of contract loyalty bonuses, which are generally around a year's salary.

Even if Hull are allowed to accept contracted players as part of a deal, the players would still expect a pay off from us.

How did we pay for the stadium? Transfers these days are rarely stumped upfront.

Personally, I think we've moved on from here as a club. As a lower championship team and as a team looking to push towards the play-offs, finding lower league gems cheap and improving them was a good model.

However, as a team that is now looking at promotion, not play-offs or there or there abouts, actual promotion, we need to find the better players from teams below us in our league. That have experience of winning games in this league and can improve us. Matt Grimes being the perfect example. Not only then are we bringing g in experience, but were sending a message to others that we're now a serious club.

Granted, if a great looking player like Rudoni is in L1 and we can, then why not. But even then, he wasnt a "cheap" buy at £5m or whatever it was. Matt Grimes was actually cheaper when you look at it that way. And Grimes hit the ground running, Rudoni took half a season to show what he was actually capable of doing.

Don't think Swansea were under a transfer embargo ,so why sell your best defender when all you can bring in is free transfers.
Well-run financially stable clubs don’t tend to be put under multiple window transfer embargo’s so I don’t know why we’re all assuming Hull can afford to just reject 8 figure fees for someone when the club could be in L1 next season.

An 8 million pound Centre back coming on if we need a goal

fucking love it hahahaha
I mean if you want Bobby Thomas biggest strength it’s the shear amount of shots he has. Hes was top of the championship last year for this for CB.

Kitching for me has started this season better and is our current on pitch captain. I’d start him and Hughes.

If we were buying a centre half for £3m from Belgium, everyone would be up in arms: ‘is he even any good?’ ‘We needed better than that’ ‘come on Doug stop being stingy’.

English, Championship pedigree, early 20’s for 10m: ‘way too much’ ‘waste of money’.
