Transfer Rumour 25/26 Summer Transfer Window (78 Viewers)

Tricky thing for us as the transfer window edges towards a close, is that the longer it goes on, the less chance of quality permanent signings, as the selling club will likely have to find a replacement (unless they are a player from a higher up team with an overloaded squad). This may result in us having to return to the loan market to plug any holes in the squad (likely younger 'prospects'), which is not ideal, given requirements for playing time, plus the cb position (s) looking vulnerable, and not an area you'd want to take a risk with.

I him we got to the play offs in 2023 with loan players in the defence. Indeed I remember a game when, at one stage we had an all loanee defensive line up

Douglas has done a psychological masterclass here in stockholm syndrome.

Most thought we would still make 4 signings

Then most would be happy with signing a quality forward and a cb

Then we were happy with a quality CB and a good loan forward

Now we'd just be happy signing a CB and if we do we will convince ourselves its been an amazing window.

I think i'd be tempted to go the foreign route and pursue Asante or someone similar for our new CB, the Championship market is a difficult one to navigate and players tend to go for inflated fees now.

I want Doug to sign somebody (I wanna pay a fee for somebody)

Clock strikes upon the hour
Transfer window begins to fade
Still enough time to figure out
How to beat the Blues away
Doug’s done alright up 'till now
It's the king of the shaves that shows him how
And when the night falls, loneliness calls

Oh, I want Doug to sign somebody
I wanna pay a fee for somebody
Yeah, I want Doug to sign somebody
And spend all of his money

We have made 3 signings so if we make 1 or 2 more most people will have been right ….

Tanganga isn’t available for the knock down price being discussed …. His signing on fee and personal terms are very significant.

This is how buy out clauses work … if a player has a relatively cheap buy out clause the players agent wants his true market value reflected in the package for the player. It’s just a variant on the Bosman economics …..

it does offer better potential value

torp for example would cost a fortune if he was a championship to championship signing

I considered taking Will King hostage but on reflection feared it might have the opposite effect.
I'll join you and we will give it a go, but it might end up like the scene from bottom when Rik and Eddie have footage of the PM up to some naughty stuff 😂 but instead of demanding sandwiches it'll be demanding CH/LW/ST and maybe throw a LB in 😂
