Why would Millwall accept half what we turned down for Thomas. I'll take that with a pinch of salt.

How long is his contract?

I’d much sooner sign Hughes who is better on the ball. One of our challenges is that opposition managers now organise their press to isolate Thomas on the ball. Sunderland did it brilliantly against us.

Tricky thing for us as the transfer window edges towards a close, is that the longer it goes on, the less chance of quality permanent signings, as the selling club will likely have to find a replacement (unless they are a player from a higher up team with an overloaded squad). This may result in us having to return to the loan market to plug any holes in the squad (likely younger 'prospects'), which is not ideal, given requirements for playing time, plus the cb position (s) looking vulnerable, and not an area you'd want to take a risk with.

I him we got to the play offs in 2023 with loan players in the defence. Indeed I remember a game when, at one stage we had an all loanee defensive line up
