Makes sense to loan him. EMC is good enough to start a lot of games, Haji can play there, so we don't need to overthink it. You'd want it to be him plus another to refresh things up front, though.

unless either Asante or Simms suddenly turn in blinders in the next couple of games and look like Lampard and the coaches have cracked the code. Not holding my breath on that one.

Think it’s suggested as a perm but that could just be me

Looks to be able to play on both wings. Not played really at all last season (did well at Wigan the year before) but assume that was Fulham wanting to keep him around the first team as looks like they had offers to loan him to Watford and Cardiff last January.

Guess the idea is that he could back up both wings and develop into a key player.

Know nothing about him but I don't think not playing regularly for a mid table Prem team is a stick to beat him with. Don't think many of our players would play much more in the same situation.
He has 1 loan with Wigan where he didn't pull up any trees then a whole season of where nobody wanted him on loan. Doesn't spell success, but I'll trust Lampards judgement, I just thought if we were going for loans we would use the Lampard effect to get in some quality.

I think this is a permanent not a loan

It won't be a loan

Looking online Cardiff and Watford were after him in January

Nobody wanted or was kept in house? I'm sure the geezer could have got a loan.
If its true seems like an EMC understudy so would be given time to bed in.
This could also be bollocks tbf and we may never have to revisit the discussion.

I think its clear that Lampard doesn't see Haji as a winger at all. The way we play doesn't suit him being on the wing, you need players that are better in tight spaces.

Say this bloke signs we have

LW: EMC, Godo,
RW: Sakamoto, Raphael (with Godo and KKH/MVE also able to play there)
ST: Wright, Simms, BTA, Bassette

I can't see us getting anyone else in for the forward line.

4 goals in 30 games is ok, it doesn't strike me as a signing that would take the team to the next level. That said, I felt the same about Rak-Sakyi and he was an important player for Sheff U last season.

I'll keep an open mind and signing on a permanent means we reap the benefits of developing a player.

Think we clearly want Bassette out one way or another and nothing can convince me Lampard isn't a bit done with Simms but it's a lot to happen in 2 weeks to allow us to bring in another. I'm assuming Simms stays for now.

EMC is clearly a player Lampard likes a lot, so someone who can develop behind him makes sense. The big money signing will still be the CB imo.

It allows us to get to Jan and re-evaluate I reckon.

If Sakamoto and EMC are expected to play 90m a game week in, week out... It's a matter of time before one or both of them breaks down and gets injured. Hopefully, Rapha and BTA can step up whenever they're asked to play out wide.
