It's different nowadays though, isn't it? Social media and that.

Can you imagine a Mo Johnstone type scenario in today's age though?

I know it's happened before but things would be a lot more vitriolic today.

The only sensible thing to do here is to offer him a 5 year £100k a week deal but slip in a 48 hour cancellation period.

Get him to do all the socials, kissing the badge, say we’re the best team in the midlands.

Then pull the cancellation clause.

As a few have said, it depends where you live or grew up. I grew up in a village between Rugby and Cov and went to school in Rugby. Apart from Saturdays and going to Highfield Rd I spent most of my time in Rugby and as it nears Leicestershire you either supported Cov or Lester. There were the odd London, Birmingham or Manchester fans whose parents had moved to the area but there weren't so many glory-hunters in those days.
