Do posters on here think Lampard and Joe Edwards are lying when they say they felt the squad was good?

This calendar year we've signed one of the most consistent midfielders in the league, a young right back who was player of the season at another Championship club and a Spanish left back. We haven't actually sold anybody for two years now.

Luis Binks?

I think any manager that says they don’t want to improve their squad is lying.

yes but some of you are calling for 7 or 8 new additions, which was never going to happen

Despite happening almost every year for the last twenty?

What most people wanted, probably including Lampard, was turnover. Wilson or Collins out and a GK in, Wright/MvE sold, and dead wood like BTA and Binks gone and upgraded.

last summer we bought Dovin, Binks (who was here the season before on loan anyway), Rudoni, Raphael, Bassette and BTA. They replaced Simon Moore, O'Hare, Godden and Palmer.
Hardly a massive turnover

Be happy if we get A) a starting CB B) A RW who can push sakamoto for his spot and C) A striker who suits the system and can play back to goal

No pressure, if the window closed today I still think we are better than the final match against Sunderland (simply just to Rushworth) but do worry about depth
There isn't a lot wrong with our starting centre backs but we do need an upgrade on Lati if Perry is going to be a part of the squad

That’s six, and you said seven was inconceivable. It’s not it’s a fairly normal amount of turnover. Last year was supposed to be light because we’d made big investments the year before.

To get a new manager in and he makes one permanent first team signing in his first summer is pretty rare. Clearly we needed to get shot of more than we’ve been able to.

Yeh I think that's all we need really. Sadly I do think we'd have to move a CF on but I'm not sure who'd pay what we want for any of them.
Obviously if MvE goes we'd need a RB too.

Where did I say that he didn't want to improve the squad?

The consensus amongst balloons like you on here is that we'd be signing 7-8 players. It just makes no sense.

It makes no sense for a new manager to want to bring in a normal or maybe slightly higher than normal amount of signings?

You do end up saying such silly things when you get like this.

Last time I checked the window closes on 1st September. We will need to move people on to upgrade. But we have signed three players that should make the squad better so your argument makes no sense

Definitely think our strikers would get moves in the championship. Both Simms and BTA have done well before and did decent as a pair up front.

Just don’t think either are able to play in the way Lampard needs them to

I'm relaxed for now, I'm convinced we'll add to the squad. Although we may lose MvE I'm confident we have loads going on in the background.

I think we are in a tricky situation though, as we progress it's harder to add players that actually improve the squad whilst not doing anything stupid financially. The majority of this squad were good enough to finish 5th despite a woeful start to the season so it's not just a case of bodies through the door like it was pre DK. We need quality and that is a smaller pond to fish in and way more competition.

We'll be trying for targets that have loads of options so may have to be calm and wait, we don't want to go early and settle on a plan B when a key target may come through later.

There is always a flurry of loans to the Championship as the Prem teams work out their squads later on so we go that route now.

Oh they'd get moves but would we get an offer we'd deem acceptable? I'm unsure... hope so.

Wasn’t expecting six or seven transfers in but was expecting a RB (KKH seems a good to great signing), Goalie and LCB. So all good, only wait is on a LCB, unless key players move on.

But I’m wondering now if the LCB will arrive before Hull. Or if King and the recruitment team have had a look at contracts, teams coming up, and coming down and decided this season it’s better not to support a title race with heavy investment given the competition for players. Not at least until he has partners / investors putting money into the club with him?

If he’s decided not to go for a promotional push then I’m sure the 60 pound padded seats will be a tough sell

the aim has to be top 6 and promotion

also it’s the job of Lampard to improve who we actually have. Not one player has gone yet and that’s also important

We don’t do many transfer announcements on a weekend from memory. I think JDS was the last one.

we do however do quite a few on a Friday ….

That's why the shift to focus on the rent seems to be a change of priority to me, could be wrong but?
