I'm undecided atm, they've got Man U and Liverpool away and Man City home in the opening 5 games. Might stick with Joao Pedro then reassess.

Man U defence was dire last season and hadn't changed. Man C were full of errors . Chelsea attack will be a minefield - rotation galore likely.

All valid points, especially re Man Utd. I don't see Man City being anywhere near as bad this season and I think Pedro is in the driving seat after the Club World Cup but you're right, it is Chelsea...

For me it still feels like a safe option with better fixtures and a known quantity in the PL, and £9m feels like a lot when "generational talent" Wirtz is also new and only £8.5m.

Not saying I won't get him nearer the time, but for now I'm essentially trying to justify the inevitable FOMO 😂

The new chips idea is nonsense . Only introduced to help more casual players as was the 5 transfer thing. Also the transfer refresh for AFCON means that there's no planning necessary.

Team almost ready to go. Yes, I have Vik ☺️

I just found out about the new scoring system with the addition of 'defensive contributions'. So a heads up on that in case anyone else has missed the news.

Rodon is my cheapest at £4m but I've got five others at £5m and under after shoehorning Salah in. Team was better before really but too many unknowns like will Kerkez start, how will Mbuemo do at a new team...

Just had another play around, and shoehorn is the correct word. If I was to go for Salah, I'd have to sacrifice too much

Week 1 have gone for bench boost so no big prices apart from Palmer, but lots of starters who are playing weaker teams at home in week 1.

I've got Salah and doesn't feel like a shoehorn, maybe because I hadn't considered not having him. Still not plumped for Vik but I've got Watkins so can easily make a last minute FOMO swap.

A summary of the Wirtz performance last night with opposite takes from a Fantasy Football site I'm on.

The rational take:
neat and tidy, created a few good chances which is what his role will always be. Sound understanding with Salah already. Bournemouth without Gravenberch was always going to be a slog for a player new to the league and the pace of it. It's just one game.

My take:
fuck him, already sold for Semenyo. Looked shite, absolutely blowing when taken off at 80 mins despite strolling around, not affecting much, completely off the pace. "Bundesliga tax" zealots already sharpening their knives.
Out of Liverpool's front 4, he looks a comfortable 4th in FPL. Ignoring him until AFCON at the earliest. Mac and Grav will be the double pivot behind him, so I'd start worrying about Szobo taking minutes and even starts off him if things don't improve quickly. Once UCL starts, that might happen regardless of whether he's up to speed, anyway.

Bit reactionary
