I don’t view Binks and Lati as strong back ups imo.

Looking at the defence last season, something needs to change. Aside from the fact that we conceded the most goals in the top half… tactically, if we’re trying to be more ball dominant and playing a high line, we probably need a CB with a profile of being athletic and more comfortable in possession.

Grimes slots in as a 3rd CB in possession to give the CBs (Thomas in particular) an easy passing lane so they don’t give the ball away in compromising positions (like MVE).

My gut instinct is that one of the CBs (Lati or Binks) will be moved on this summer.

At the price they would want for Doyle, you could probably get Worrall from Burnley and have a load of change to spend in more crucial areas like a keeper.

I understood the preference of permanent over loan and agree with it. The problem is we had a season to look at Binks and still made the decision to sign. Odd one for me.

Yeah, I mean there’s no doubt who the better player is, and I’m sure Robins/Austin knew that. But you can see the rationale in betting on a permanent signing rather than doing another one year loan.

Would be a class signing, was great in a mediocre Norwich side.

If anything he'd be one that would allow us to start pushing us towards the autos as it would work well alongside Thomas.

Not a chance selling those 3 would net that sort of money.

I'd prefer Mcnally and Heggem both better than what we have and would cost literally combined the same as Doyle.

No doubt Doyle would be a great signing, but I think we need to offload both Binks and Lati, Doyle costing 8 million would be a huge chunk of our budget for just 1 player replaced.

Lati and Binks weren't good enough in the 23/24 season, we all said we lacked the leadership and experience from losing McFadzean and instead of signing someone in that mould we signed Binks despite him already being second choice. 🤦‍♂️

There has to be question marks over Doyle , as he will never play for Man City , but they keep farming him out to championship clubs .
His lack of genuine pace is his big Achilles heel .

One of the few ex-players I wouldn't mind signing, at the time I kept telling people he would play for England someday. Progress seems to have stalled somewhat, but think a settled few years would have him flying.

If we can get him for the right money he'd be a great signing. Loan to buy or big bonuses on promotion/sell on clauses would be the way to get him I think.

I think Lati will be the one we see move on. A good versatile player, but if we are playing that high line then you're right about the type of profile that we need.
Lati makes me so nervous when he's in a tight spot, almost every game you can guarantee he's going to try that move where he plays for a foul.

If Lati is happy being a versatile squad player, I'd keep him. I think he is a valuable player to have and has a good attitude.

Tough one isn't it, it's whether or not he's happy to be sat on the bench.
If we want to make the step up, we need to improve at the back, which could mean possibly Kitching or Thomas even dropping to the bench, he'd be right down the pecking order, especially if we bring in a new RB cover.

While I agree to an extent, if a club in Saudi or the USA 'wants' Hadji they could easily spend 15-18 million on him, even as on option on the bench. He is also a USA international and the USA are hosting the World Cup next summer. These factors create premiums and for the Saudi league he would be solid signing for an aspiring affluent club.

BTA - I think we had interest in January around the 3.5-4m mark?

Simms - Surely with the abilities he has shown, albeit not consistently, he must be a 4m player in today's market?

I think around 20 million for the 3 might be possible with the right agents targeting the right buyers.

If we keep him he needs ahuge season to get involved in the USA squad , could be an incentive

Can’t imagine our war chest is gonna be massive. Spending that amount on a defender would be quite disappointing imo, despite our back line being as dodgy as it can be, I think we’ve got big problems up front to fix.

The striker problems would be able to be fixed if we sold the current ones. They would generate enough income to spend on decent replacements

That is a lot of games, he'll end up burning out in his late 20s.

For him, if he wants premier league football, he probably needs to move abroad for a season or two, and play top flight football like Maatsen and Van Arnolt did.

He's a good player but I do wonder if his lack of pace would be an issue with us playing such a high line.

Simms goals last season alone will mean we should start the bidding at £5m

Norwich were apparently originally quoted £15million and that's why they arn't pursuing the transfer, (according to their forum)

That would also knock us out of the equation.

I wouldn't be suprised if he ends up at one of the promoted teams.
