It might be cynical but ultimately footballers need to be selfish and look out for number one, particularly those who've already had one serious long term injury. It would make perfect sense for him to tone down his efforts with a transfer in the bag so he doesn't risk an injury in the process.
I don’t disagree with that but doubt Robins would allow passengers at this stage of the season.

How set in stone is his new deal? Would his form not impact the numbers involved in said deal?

Could be anywhere from something already signed and sealed to just a verbal agreement conditional on him staying fit. He's not being unprofessional by just putting in 6/10 performances until the season finishes.

Vik and Hamer both know they'd be off but played their guts out every minute they were here. To be clear, I don't buy in to CoH having 'downed tools' but if I'm following the thread, you're saying you don't blame him if he has. Don't get that at all. It's a weird take.
I’m saying I don’t blame him for being happy he’s going with the disrespect he’s getting from fans. To suggest he’s downed tools is ridiculous

O'Hare's stats -

Tackles per 90:
20/21: 2
23/24: 1.1

Times fouled per 90:
20/21: 2.6
23/24: 1.4

Fouls per 90:
20/21: 1.4
23/24: 0.6

Dribbles per 90:
20/21: 2.1
23/24: 0.7

All the stats point to a player who is worried about getting injured again and isn't getting stuck in. Happens a lot with players recovering from ACL injuries, don't think it is because he has downed tools.

I think COH is a big boy and doesn’t care what any of us on this forum says.

Ironically, you‘ve gone from ‘calling out’ nonsense to speaking it.

When I watch " City Unseen" he clearly wants to be the centre of attention.

Id love him to stay, he’s played a bit part in our rise but he wants to go so we move on. We wish him the best.

So both you and @Ccfcisparks duck the question.

Stop making up nonsense about I’m saying. Saying a player is replaceable does not mean they are mediocre or that I wouldn’t offer him a new contract.

COH has been offered a contract and has apparently rejected it because he knows where he’s going next. There won’t be anyone on this that will not thank him for his part in our journey. He’s helped us, we’ve helped him and players coming and going is part and parcel of the game.

We need a replacement, that’s all there is to it. There are better players out there and according to @Saddlebrains, our targets are ‘shit hot’.

New heroes emerge and we’re on the up.
I’m not ducking the question, it just doesn’t really make much sense because most of his stats over his time with us have been while playing in the Championship but I’m supposed to imagine that they’re actually from League One?

I think he came back really keen to earn the transfer he missed out on last time, busted a gut to produce those performances, earned the transfer then cooled his jets.

This is the simplest and most obvious answer.

But have you considered that some of us really like O’Hare? And it would make us sad if he didn’t like us back the same way? Also some of us have invested a lot of our online personality in how terrible Kasey Palmer is so seeing him keep our boy out the team is very distressing.

…or it lacks class to suddenly decide a player isn’t actually that good because he’s decided to leave and play at a higher level.

Big fan whilst he's here but that's it. We stood by him through injury, if he doesn't t want to be here, thanks and good luck, move on. Fek him.

It’s actually very easy to find. He was on £20k a week at Bristol and rejected a move to Cardiff as he said he would see out his contract - we took the contract as part of the fee arrangement

Your in depth knowledge of the minutae of Palmer's contract never ceases to amaze.

Funny how it's only his contract you seem to know every last detail about.

Why? He’s probably going to go to a Prem team/relegated from the Prem.

Whilst we’re being more specific, I said lower Champ/L1 because that’s probably where we’ll try to find a replacement.

You could apply that any European league also if you really want. You had people who were unconvinced with Hadji Wright who had a better than a 1 in 2 record in Turkey. Likewise, with Simms with a career average of 1 in 3 in Championship, L1 and Scotland.

Statistically, COH goals and assists record isn’t a lot to shout about. I don’t think he starts for the teams that are likely to be promoted to/relegated from the Prem.

A little statistical insight into his performance. His xG & xA per 90 has been decreasing from 2021/22.

I think he’ll end up in the top-flight outside of the UK. I don’t think he’s stopped trying, he’s come back from a long-term injury and won’t be back to his best until the start of next season, unfortunately for us.

Frankly, that would be a ridiculous stance to take.
As others have pointed out, if we're going to push for an automatic space or even win the league, we'll need a number of players better than the ones we've got.
