The point re his strength is both interesting and pertinent. For someone of his size, he doesn’t strike me as the strongest which may be why he struggles to get change out of centre backs. Full backs he clearly has more joy from and the fact he can square up and run at them, which is his strongest asset, is leading to far more opportunities.

I would say unpredictability is one of the greatest assets a striker can have. Isn't that what training ground moves are always looking for? a way to wrong-foot the opposition defence.

I would say very few goals scored are unsaveable, and mostly the keeper gets very close to a save. That's what they are there for. This idea that because the keeper got his fingertips to it, that makes it a bad strike is crazy.

Need a replay from the other side of the goal to see that. I've watched it numerous time and you can't tell. I had a decent view of it live and it looked as though he just hit the post but the goalie did sprawl to cover most of the goal with a defender behind him.

My thoughts yesterday was even how close he was when ball fell to feet, goalies hands were right there + the defender on the line gave very little (if any) real space to get it in. Thought a lot of the stirup at Haji for missing was misguided frustration. Glad for the brace, so that moment now gets buried deeper a bit in favor of the 2in

I didn't think so but... the keeper was on him, the defender was right n front of him on the line - I actually thought he did well to find the gap and was unlucky it didn't go in!

I also didn't realize at first how quickly Saka closed in after his initial blast, good sense of situational awareness by all, even Kasey looks poised to jump left for a tap in if it happened to land at him off of Haji

Personally I think the keeper did well to get a touch on it.
If it was lower he could have got his foot or leg to it. When hit that close a keeper only gets a split second to see where it is going and to react. It is all instinctive. You can only go down as fast as gravity will allow. Much harder to save than the full stretch dive for the camera going just inside the post.

Wright remains a bit of an enigma.
Periods of poor play, periods of good play, offsides, poor control, scuffed shots, poor decisions, good decisions, goals.
He has to be far more consistent before people get over excited.
He is certainly a bit of a one off with a patchy career to date. How much can our coaches improve him?

In the last 10 games (including 2 bit part appearances after coming back from injury) he has 8 G/A. I agree there is a lot more to come from him but over the last 10, there is plenty to be excited about.
I agree he can be a bit Jekyll and Hyde but he seems to keep churning out goal contributions.

What I love about Wright is that he impacts games. He's involved. Yes with a mixed bag of results but he doesn't hide. He always gets atleast 2 golden chances in every game he plays.
How many Strikers from recent seasons have we had who never got a chance. Walker, Waghorn, were never in position to miss chances let alone score them. Wright is not far away from hitting some undeniably impressive numbers this season (both goals and assists).
Think he's just going to get better.

Wright is the best at finding chances in the division by some margin.
I did. I said it was a Premier League level bit of play.

This is part of the point, he clearly makes very clean good contact with the ball but you still make the point of it potentially being a miss kick. Why not just take it for what it is, a clean well taken penalty instead of searching for a way to make it look poor and unintended.

Considering Prem teams were interested in him, I’m sure that’s his ceiling…
He is on track to beat Gyokeres’ stats in his first full season. Who, btw, missed by far the most ‘big’ chances statistically in the league.
Wright has been more clinical so far, even if there’s room for improvement there.

The state of some of you. If you need to ask what strengths Wright has then I do worry about your ability to judge a player. His movement is top notch. Watch how he makes runs, drags defenders, drops short, runs off the shoulder, he’s a nightmare to mark.
As for his second goal, that was not a scuff. He purposely struck it towards the near post as 1) the keeper was not set and 2) it took the keeper by surprise and he did well to get a hand to it.
