I'll get told that I love Enzo(which I don't. Bring on any possible collapse) but just to point out that this forum also made out that southamptons manager is shit and their pass pass style of play wouldn't work...

I don't watch Leicester week in week out so not prepared to comment how he would do in prem but I do not trust the opinion of forum members on other teams sorry. Otherwise stoke and Birmingham would be top 2 with their great recruitment for example

Birmingham clearly would be having a strong season if they hadn’t inexplicably sacked a decent manager then replaced him with Shrek

They remind me of Stoke, but with a couple of players (James and Stansfield) in form. Next season I don't see them improving massively, unless they have a serious injection of funds. - and I'm not sure how much FFP affects them in that matter.

We’ll see about the future, but as far as this season is concerned, sacking Eustace blew it. Not that anyone’s complaining mind you

I suspect James will go and Stansfield will return to Fulham so that'll leave a big hole. Their fans are convinced their owners will suddenly pump in a fortune but I'm not so sure.

Talking with friends at the weekend, maybe with sky blue specs on , but how do you think us and Leicester would do if promoted? Leicesters squad for me needs a lot more additions than ours in my opinion
We're 26 points behind them at present, why would our squad need alot less work than theirs?

To answer the question i think we could do ok so long as we got our recruitment spot on. There are a few areas of the team that we'd definitely need to improve and a coupke where we'd be relying on current players being good enough which is always a gamble.

I would however feel far more confident going up with this squad than last season i think, we own just about everyone and wouldn't have virtually an entire 11 to replace.

Chucking loads of money at it and changing managers regularly doesn't tend to bring success anyway. It does feel like they have a team that should be higher than they are and is capable of growing into something decent though, just need a plan and some patience.

If we went up I’d like us to sign
ST
2x CB
Winger (someone who can play both sides)
GK
And I’d be satisfied with just the 5 as keeping the core team would do wonders as the unity would be there and they’d all be playing for the badge. 1 of the CBs would be an experienced prem CB and the other would be a good young prospect, the winger would be a backup to Haji and Sakamoto, the ST and keeper would need to be prem quality maybe Schmeicle and Che Adams (if saints dont go up) just players of them molds

I’m glad they brought in the dewsbury hall rule this year. What allows him to dive and not get booked why giving him a pen now and again. Plus letting him have every foul outside the box he asks for.

My point is how well they did when not managing teams that are filled with players that are too good for the level they are at.

It's a pretty simple point and I am sorry f you can't quite grasp it.
What you don’t grasp is that they are doing well atm and that’s what matters. It’s like saying Robins was poor at Scunthorpe.

They have had to remind every referee that they need to wait until they have left the pitch before they swap shirts with him.

I think it is almost the same comparison as with Burnley & Luton. Burnley have a better group of players but Luton have a togetherness & team spirit and I think Luton have a better chance of staying up because of that.

I get that, but at least in Enzo's case that is the only example of their work outside of basically having the Championship version of the Brazil 1970 team. Martin also was ok it Milton Keynes but seems to be recruit for his football style rather than the results.

Robins has at us of creating teams that punch above their weight in player ability which they don't.

We'd need more than that in my view to survive. Bidwell isn't a Premier League quality left back for example, and we would also need extra quality in midfield. Even O'Hare if he stayed is not necessarily good enough and we would need extra in that position too. The gulf in quality is massive as the position of all the promoted teams last season shows.

We have a number of players of potential Premier League quality but none who have proved themselves at that level, so it is difficult to judge. Van Ewijk looks like he would be good enough for example, but then again you never know until they play at that level. Same applies to Wright, and maybe Sakamoto. Sheaf has quality but would his lack of pace be too much of a problem? Eccles has the potential, as do Thomas and Kitching but next season might be too soon. So we would need quite a considerable injection of talent if we were to survive at that level.

Also the comparative ages of the 2 squads , we've invested for the long term whereas Leicesters only focus was promotion

I think you are wearing those sky blue tinted glasses there. Leicester have proven Premier League players throughout their squad.

Are they proven ? Or are they average once the likes of Madison , Tielemans and others are removed . I would think they would need a whole new back four when they go up for starters .
Obviously they have a few very talented players in Mavdidi, Dewsbury-Hall and Winks . The current squad is a level above Championship standard as the league table shows but they need serious investment in the summer
I'll remove my sky blue specs now 😁

Comparing to Leicester is silly, prefer to judge on our own merits. For me the exciting thing is we'd have to do far less surgery than if we went up last season. Potentially a few players that could be ok in the Prem, Sheaf, MVE, Kitching, Thomas, Wright, Sakamoto...
Of course by that I mean could help us finish 4th bottom, not qualify for Europe, but still.

As their league position shows they are some way ahead of us at the moment. We have players with potential but they have ones who have proved themselves at the level above.

By the way no problem wearing sky blue specs. Life's more fun that way :)

The gap between the championship and prem is massive. How many players did Forrest sign, yet they have struggled and now find themselves the wrong side of FFP. Burnley last season were almost as far in front as Leicester this season. The only way any of the three last season survive this season if points deduction for Forrest and Everton .

Darren Bent was asked about the difference in the two leagues on Talksport and in his opinion he said it was speed and speed of thought. He said you can be the most skilful player in the championship but without the pace you will struggle as the midfielders are so much quicker than in the Championship through the press. He also said the speed of thought was to do with the quality of the defenders, Championship defenders are physical and are at you through out the game but Premier league defenders read the game better and tend to make more interceptions but still have the physical attributes of our league. He said because of his size he preferred playing against championship players as he could be more physical which was his best attribute as the time available in the Prem meant it was always get your shots away as you had less time.

I think there's a sign of complacency creeping into his interviews?
