My daughter keeps doing this- "when do you think school will be open?"

If I was able to answer questions like that then I'd be playing the lottery this weekend, buying a yacht and fucking off on the ocean for 6 months

Nobody has any idea unfortunately

Still only 163 in critical care so that’s good

You can get a clear idea of the seriousness of this when you take total cases, deduct deaths and recovered- they are big numbers that are still active and show just how long this thing knocks you out for. I haven't seen anyone yet that doesn't say it goes on for a fortnight to a month.

One sector of the Hungarian economy "booming" - sales of firearms, crossbows etc. up 500%.
Cheerful thought as one of the largest consumers of alcohol in EU as well.

A crossbow! Its a special kind of mind that goes for a crossbow- its not enough to shoot someone, they want the pleasure of impaling someone with a big spike

It will at some point get to that sort of level. Italy now is breaking out in the south and Rome is two weeks away from its peak. Then there will be a second wave

I requested, and was denied unpaid leave yesterday. This is the letter they will receive from me shortly. (If they fire me, I already have evidence of the lack of protective equipment and disregard for social distancing enforcement.)

‘As you know I’m recovering from a recent prolonged bout of flu, a subsequent infection that required antibiotics and a cold that followed due to my weakened immune system.

As a result of this and the extraordinarily dangerous nature of the Coronavirus I have decided to self isolate for 2 weeks to protect myself and my family. I am doing this voluntarily, and as such, don’t expect to be paid during this time and am happy to write a check for my insurance deductions.

I kindly ask that you are understanding of my situation in these unprecedented times and grant me two weeks unpaid leave, allowing me to return to work after this period of time.’
Trump will be all over your ass

Given that this is a Coventry City forum and the residents of this forum have more than likely been born and raised in our fair city, like me, we are all aware the Coventry is a socialist city and it is one the easiest places to be elected if you are wearing a red Rosette.
I left Coventry in 1978 for work and had completed 2 years at college and gone through a catholic schooling(wiseman if you ask) and had a father who was a trade unionist to his core.
I have never cut my cord with Coventry, mainly through our team but to a lesser extent family and I would like to ask a question?
What the fuck did labor ever do for Coventry?
We have had closures of industries, heart ripped out of communities both under labor government and councils. Prominent mp's such as Wilson and Robinson and Crossland.
Where has it ever been positive?
I am not convinced at all by the sneering and finger pointing because frankly I don't see where socialism has proven itself to be better for Coventry.

Although it is a point on why they get re-elected (mix of dyed-in-the-wool beliefs passed down through families and fear of change) but we have had Conservative led councils as well and it's not like it's been any better.

Also, this is still a capitalist country, regardless of local beliefs and council control. Even when we've had a long term Labour govt it was hardly 'red'.

I think we'll see a spike as new cases emerge but existing ones are ongoing, putting strain on the health services and more decisions will need to be made as to who gets a ventilator.

It seems that the government in 2017 decided not to stock up the required ppe even though it was recommended they did on "cost" grounds

At the moment there is speculation that there will be an outbreak in the south. The deaths so far have been relatively low there the quarantine of Milan was leaked to the press so a lot of idiots of course headed to their families in the south of crowded trains, it's estimated that 15% of them were infected and passed it onto their families.
Any outbreak there will not be as severe as we have seen in Lombardia though but will still reap havoc.
