Put it this way. The entire planet knew that herd immunity was crackpot science. It has never been achieved before in the history of humanity without a vaccine. The WHO were openly critical of our approach. No other country aside from Holland tried it, and they failed. We knew what was coming, and most experts knew our strategy would fail.

Are you saying he was right to take the recommendation of Cummings' pals, and cannot be blamed for doing so? I do agree with you 100%, there are serious fucking questions for all of them. But the can, ultimately stops with Boris, he should have known that he was being spun a yarn with herd immunity.

Thing is we had a choice of stupid and callous or stupid but with their heart in the right place.

Also just because Corbyn was shite doesn’t mean Boris gets a free pass. There are other Tory MPs, and soon Corbyn will be just another back bencher.

Exactly so surely that proves Cummings and Vallance are just as inept as Boris is? Granted Boris is the decision maker and by pushing the herd immunity decision through that shows he clearly isn't challenging his own advisors. Which to be honest is proved in previous statements where he's repeated stressed the importance of maintaining trust in our scientific strategy in the attempts to tackle the virus - as well as going ahead despite criticisms/warnings from other countries and the WHO. You know I'm not saying he was right, once again you're pulling assumptions out of thin air. What I am saying it it's not his direct fault our 'science' is well off the mark compared to other countries.

Boris will probably receive the proportion of the blame once the dust has settled as history rarely remembers those in the background but those who claim Vallance and Cummings have simply 'just played a part in the process'. Well lets just say we'll agree to disagree as on that matter.

Yes but it was understandable when you had people on TV saying it was right, that doesn't make you look daft by any means at all.

There are people on here that to this day will refuse to confirm that it was the wrong thing to do, they do look a bit daft though.

I still think we are okay regarding that The Athletic can be a bit sensational and I can’t see Liverpool being denied the Prem title which I’m sure will help us, Leeds and others, but I do have a concern, our ground position, been no talk on that for a while but who knows what the future holds with going to St Andrews again or even if the EFL allowed us to go up with no home ground. It needs sorting a.s.a.p.

technically classed as a temporary "civil servant" and paid by central govt.
Each Govt minister (and shadow minister) can appoint their own special advisers. Again all paid by central govt.
That's why Javid quit when Cummings tried to sack his personal advisers.

But top health official Fernando Simón is holding out hope that the numbers could soon start going down, saying the latest figures "indicate little by little the possible arrival at the peak". Around one in seven of the 64,059 Spanish cases is listed as recovered, and there's been a big rise in the past 24 hours.

This health ministry graph illustrates the spread of Covid-19 across Spain.The green bar shows those who have recovered, the pale blue highlights the number in hospital, the yellow those in intensive care and the red the growth in fatalities.

That as we know is not doable at the moment. Came to terms with losing the football at the moment as i still saw the kids. Now they aren't able to come for the foreseeable, its made things feel shite.

Apologies for the rant, just unreal how much you can miss something that felt as simple as going to watch the city with your children. When you cant it's just crap

Know the feeling. Your kids are your life. Miss mine but they miss me more. And will be months before they see me again.

Don't worry it will soon be time to see them again. And hopefully as schools are off you will be allowed extra time to make up for it.

If he has this virus, every member of his Cabinet, Cobra, Cummings and god knows how many more will have to self isolate, has a pregnant wife too, serious stuff. Don’t think even he would pull a bullshit stunt like this.

Is staying put a less attractive option? I’m in Bahrain - but have wife and kids here with me.
Don’t really feel I can come back to the uk because when we visit , we stay with my Mum, who is in her mid-eighties. The idea of staying with her seems irresponsible in the extreme.
Have a place of our own but it’s rented out.
The thing about staying here that worries me most is Ramadan. People here are hardwired to socialize after iftar. At the moment, the numbers of infections are small (466) but relative to population, that’s actually a pretty big figure and it’s a small, densely populated island, so it could get horrible here.
Hope you’re ok and that if you want to leave you can do so ASAP

You don’t have to isolate if you’ve been in contact with someone in the workplace, only household...

Was checking this after finding out some of my colleagues are in hospital.

Not exactly true though. Should we have left everyone without income and locked down before financial measures were put in place?

What did happen was millions of people ignoring all advice.

I think its still too early to discern any meaningful trend in anyone's figures aside from South Korea and China
