Here's how I see it going:
- Games announced to be behind closed doors very soon
- Uproar from lower league clubs who say they could go bust without the income
- This weekend's games all go ahead with no fans and streaming allowed
- Infection rates keep increasing, some EFL players diagnosed, meaning whole teams have to test and quarantine
- EFL season delayed for two weeks

But surely different players could catch it over an extended period, so the 2 week/longer delay could keep repeating itself?

If all season ticket holders agree to this, would be an extra 50k.

Efl should be releasing a statement daily to the clubs/fans to keep them in the loop about their short term thinking after their discussions with government.
Already clubs are losing thousands in lost revenue due to the uncertainty.

Closed doors games would mean city save thousands in having to pay to have the away end toilets fixed every other week

I’d even go further. I think they should charge £10 STH and £20 the rest and stream every game. Would imagine the viewing figures would exceed a normal crowd and if the club made, say £10 per viewer they would hopefully not lose much dosh, if any. I’m sure loads would get in a tizzy about that mind, but shit happens. I’d be happy (well not happy but you know) to pay it.

I live in Copenhagen, yesterday they took the step to partially shut down things (schools, Uni's, people told to work from home, etc). They have around the same situation in terms of numbers as the UK. I do not know why the UK seem to be so slow on the uptake and quite frankly why Cheltenham is going ahead is mental!
People can call it a media frenzy or whatever but if people just took action early then we'd all be back to it much much quicker!

I went to the supermarket here yesterday (massive sainsburys) and there were quite a few gaps on the shelves, definitely less stock than normal (still had bog roll though!). Given the rumours of impending lockdown I suspect this morning will be rather busy in the food shops.

Surely banning social gatherings over a certain number of people would require legislation? If so, the Government couldn't implement that as soon as the weekend. Maybe from Monday.

the thing is, if you're going to stop screening football matches to prevent people gathering then surely weddings, parties etc would all have to be cancelled as well?
And there's probably more people in the City arms on a Sunday afternoon than there are across the road in the Albany club watching thee football so do you shut pubs altogether?

I think in Italy they are only allowed to open bars / restaurants if they can guarantee a meter gap between people? Families sitting at different tables to eat etc.

Everything is coming from the Tines piece which stares could be but everyone is amending that to be expected to.
It will most likely happen but we are a way behind where the other countries were when they made the same decision

Mi Feng, a spokesman for China's National Health Commission, said "the increase of new cases is falling".
Today there were just 15 new cases logged across the whole of China, and Hubei province - the epicentre of the virus - logged just eight new infections.
This is the first time the province has recorded a daily tally of fewer than 10 new cases.
Over the last seven days, the progress of coronavirus in the country has slowed markedly.
China has been enforcing strict measures on traffic and the movement of people in an attempt to stem the spread, including effectively putting Wuhan on lockdown.
As the virus has slowed, authorities have cautiously started easing restrictions and businesses have been reopening.
Earlier today, Hubei officials announced that travel restrictions would be further loosened.

My only issie is if we you stop football gatherings you have to stop All gatherings. Close pubs and cinemas etc restaurants. Dont Just stop sports otherwise waste of time

The EFL has an arbitration committee. As far as I read they have the power to finish the season whenever. How this would be done may be decoded by an arbitration committee.

It’s great news IF that’s the reality. Who knows. The key is whether the virus ‘reappears’ (not sure I’m of the medical term !!) and becomes widespread once the restrictions are removed though
